Last Tuesday, I was fortunate to attend the Data Expert’s RoundTable at Glovo's headquarters in Barcelona. (Kudos to the organisation!) 👉 In case you missed it, here are the 5️⃣ key take-aways: 💼 Business-first || Shape data products from consumers’ perspectives & make the data natively accessible. 🔎 Data observability || Adding rich metadata enhances discoverability and self-service capabilities (technical and semantical understanding). 💡 Discoverability || Making data easily discoverable not only drives data usage, but also cost reduction by preventing duplicate dashboards, duplicate ad-hoc transformations, etc. 🚦Access Management || Data contracts are not only perfect for company-wide data quality standards and shared semantics, but also for access management. ⚠️ Warning || When embracing a data mesh-approach, be aware of not just shifting the problem from Excel-files to S3-buckets! 👀 We are currently on the search to have (even more) chats with data stakeholders (±30 min) to ask 5 questions.
