🚧 Heavy construction along the US-127 corridor is set to begin today, March 11 and last through the rest of the year! The Michigan Department of Transportation is encouraging travelers to plan and research alternate routes for their daily commute to avoid extensive delays. 🚧 This work is part of the $205 million project to rebuild US-127/I-496 from I-96 to I-496 which will address safety concerns, and improve roadway geometrics and vehicular movement. As part of our commitment to reduce fatalities and serious injuries, PennDOT annually invests $29M+ in federal grant funds on traffic safety education and enforcement. We also focus on safety countermeasures and improvements to our infrastructure and roadways.  Last year, 1,209 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes on PA roadways – 30 more than in 2022. Additionally, transparency, public engagement, and collaboration among government bodies, private agencies, and citizens are vital to mitigate risks associated with poorly maintained roads and ensure safer travel for all. Responsible citizens can play a significant role in promoting road safety and ensuring that responsible agencies uphold their duty to maintain safe roadways. 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡: The building of the PSTC is destroying one of Atlanta's largest remaining forested areas. 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭: The City of Atlanta owns more than 400 acres in the area of the PSTC. This land has historically been the site of the Atlanta Police Academy and the Atlanta Prison Farm. The PSTC will be built on 85 acres of that land, of which more than 30 acres will be continued green space. The rest of the more than 300 acres will be preserved as green space for the public to enjoy. Also, #DYK that before the PSTC was constructed on the land, there was a removal of thousands of illegally discarded mattresses, tires, and other environmental hazards?
