*** Autonomous Vehicle Update *** > Nissan Motor Corporation to offer driverless public transport in Japan. > Nissan Motor said it planned to commercialise autonomous driving in Japan in the 2027 fiscal year, as part of its so called Ambition 2030 strategy. > The automaker said it would launch commercial services using its own Level 4 technology to help solve transport issues in Japan, such as driver shortages due to the country’s aging population > Outside Japan, Nissan has been testing autonomous driving in London and other areas with the support of the UK government. > Nissan had been testing various ideas in Japan and overseas since 2017, including in the Minato Mirai area & Namie town, where a manned service called @Namie Smart Mobility has operated since 2021. >The automaker said it planned to launch trials of services in Minato Mirai using manned autonomous vehicles this year in collaboration with local authorities and transport operators, with plans to scale up these trials in 2025. #autonomousvehicles #AVs #Nissan #AI

Waymo To Partner With Hyundai To Deploy Ioniq 5 As New Robo Taxi The strategic partnership will power Waymo’s 6th-generation autonomous driving system on the Hyundai Ioniq 5! Waymo and Hyundai have announced a partnership to use the mighty popular Ioniq 5 as the new autonomous taxi. At the moment, Waymo uses a fleet of Jaguar I-Pace EVs. However, the Korean electric crossover is slated to replace that in the coming years. We know that Waymo had huge plans for its autonomous taxis with the Chinese EV giant Zeekr. Unfortunately, due to the recent happenings in the U.S. and Europe (tariffs on Chinese EVs), those plans fell through.
