Waymo To Partner With Hyundai To Deploy Ioniq 5 As New Robo Taxi The strategic partnership will power Waymo’s 6th-generation autonomous driving system on the Hyundai Ioniq 5! Waymo and Hyundai have announced a partnership to use the mighty popular Ioniq 5 as the new autonomous taxi. At the moment, Waymo uses a fleet of Jaguar I-Pace EVs. However, the Korean electric crossover is slated to replace that in the coming years. We know that Waymo had huge plans for its autonomous taxis with the Chinese EV giant Zeekr. Unfortunately, due to the recent happenings in the U.S. and Europe (tariffs on Chinese EVs), those plans fell through. That is how Waymo ended with Hyundai. #hyundai #hyundaiioniq5 #ioniq5 #electriccars #electricvehicles https://lnkd.in/g4dajFkd

In light of a recent FT article 👇 showcasing the intensifying rivalry between China and the U.S. in autonomous vehicle (AV) development, I’m turning a critical eye towards Europe’s position in this transformative race. The continent, known for its rich automotive legacy, faces unique challenges — from regulatory mazes to investment disparities. Without swift and strategic action, I believe Europe stands at a crossroads that could lead to economic ripple effects, technological dependencies, and a significant innovation drain. The consequences of falling behind are not just about losing a technological race; they’re about missing out on shaping the future of mobility and sustainable living. As Europe deliberates on its next move, the clear question for me remains - how will it reinvent its approach to embrace AV technology fully? Will it be a leader or a follower in this global shift? The answers to these questions will have profound implications for Europe’s economic vitality and its role on the world stage. What are the pivotal steps Europe must take to not only catch up but to potentially lead in the era of autonomous driving in your opinion? #AutonomousVehicles #EuropeanInnovation #FutureOfMobility #TechLeadership
