As part of its ongoing commitment to serve the church, Auxilio Partners presented a free webinar on May 22, “Bad Things Can Happen to Good Churches: Steps to Protect Your People and Your Ministry.” The recording of the webinar is now available. The objective of the presentation was to provide practical ways to respond to reports of harassment, spiritual abuse, or other harm, as well as offer preventative measures churches and faith-based nonprofits can take to minimize the risk. https://lnkd.in/eCsBz_ib

James 2:17 emphasizes the importance of active faith: “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” Engaging in service opportunities, such as feeding the homeless, supporting local shelters, or participating in mission trips, brings this principle to life. It allows Christians to practice their faith in concrete, meaningful ways. https://gofund.me/cdbfad7c

Among the root causes of domestic violence in Black communities specifically, 72.6% of participants in the 2017 Black Leaders Survey on Domestic Violence cited systemic racism, a factor ranking slightly behind economic stress (85.6%), childhood trauma (84.9%) and substance abuse (72.6%). From the findings above, we recognise that systemic racism creates a complex web of challenges that can contribute to the perpetuation of domestic violence. Bertha’s Legacy is dedicated to dismantling the barriers that prevent individuals from accessing the support and resources they need. At our shelter in Zimbabwe (Bertha’s Place), we are actively working to create safe spaces, provide trauma-informed care, and offer economic empowerment programs to address the financial stressors that can exacerbate domestic violence situations. We stand in solidarity with the Black community and all those affected by domestic violence. We are dedicated to continuing our efforts to educate, advocate, and provide the necessary support to end the cycle of violence. Please support us by sharing our works. As Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) 2024 takes off, YCC Family Crisis Center is deeply aligned with this year's theme: "Heal, Hold & Center." Domestic violence does not discriminate—it crosses all boundaries of race, age, gender, and socioeconomic status. This reality underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach that heals the deep wounds of violence, holds space for survivors to reclaim their power, and centers the voices and experiences of those most marginalized. At YCC, we witness daily the strength and resilience of survivors, especially those who navigate the intersecting challenges of anti-Blackness and other forms of systemic oppression. We are committed to embracing the many cultural ways that healing can take place, whether through community support, creative expression, or the re-establishment of safe and nurturing environments. Our mission to end domestic violence is inherently tied to the pursuit of social justice. We firmly believe that there is no true justice for survivors without addressing the racial and social inequalities that perpetuate violence and oppression. This DVAM, we encourage our community, partners, and allies to support our efforts in making a difference for survivors. By standing with us, you help ensure that every survivor is seen, heard, and supported, contributing to a future where healing and justice are within reach for all. Evidence tells us that most people experiencing family violence will reach out to their family, friends or someone they work with first. That could be you. Ask. Listen. Believe. These 3 small actions can have a big impact. We all have a role in recognising and responding to family violence, where we live, work and play. So today, on ‘Are You Safe at Home? Day’, start the conversation. Start small, open up the conversation, listen and offer support. Fine out more: https://ow.ly/EcZo50Rz7MA Safe and Equal #AreYouSafeAtHome
