We are excited to announce the addition of a new project to SAFER’s portfolio from our Post-Crash Working Group, led by Hanna Maurin Söderholm and Magnus Granström; Proactive Assessment of Cognitive Work Environment in Ambulance Care (PreKo 2). This project aims to enhance the understanding and evaluation of cognitive workload in ambulance healthcare, contributing both to societal benefits and research advancements. The project will: 1. Map cognitive workload factors in ambulance care, including types of strain, critical abilities, timing, frequency, intensity, and consequences of errors. 2. Further develop the PreKo 1.0 model into PreKo 2.0 for structured cognitive load assessment in ambulance services. 3. Establish a process for using PreKo 2.0 to assess cognitive workload and recommend interventions when inappropriate workload levels are detected.   🚑 Traffic safety impact: By improving the cognitive work environment, ambulance personnel can reduce time spent on non-essential tasks and remain focused for longer periods, ultimately enhancing care quality and efficiency. 🚀Visit to PIECC for the NextGen Mobility International Exhibition! 🚗🔋 Recently, I had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge automation and mobility technologies at PIECC's NextGen Mobility International Exhibition. The experience was nothing short of incredible, with valuable insights into the future of transportation. Here's a quick snapshot of what we explored: 🛴 Electric Scooter: We learned about a smart, application-based electric scooter with minimal charges—just ₹2 per minute! It was fascinating to see how accessible and efficient it can be for daily commutes. 🚴♂️ Hybrid Cycle (Battery & Manual): Serving the same purpose, this eco-friendly solution combines manual pedaling with battery-powered assistance. 🔌 Charging Stations: From compact to large-scale, we saw how 2-wheelers, 4-wheelers, and even commercial automobiles can be charged efficiently, contributing to sustainable mobility. 🏎️ ARAI: We discovered the role of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) in vehicle testing and certification, ensuring safety and compliance for vehicles on the road. 🚀 Rocket Science: A unique aspect was learning about rockets used for pre-orbital trials, with one having successfully completed missions in Brazil and India! 🚗 Automobile Showcase: A diverse range of cars was on display, along with detailed presentations on both internal and external vehicle components. Franconia-Thuringia Express sprints with Siemens Mobility trains on the Nuremberg-Erfurt high-speed line. Happy to share that, just in time for the summer timetable change the Desiro HC Trains equipped with Trainguard 200 OBU entered passenger service on VDE8 on June 9th. This is the first time a regional train has been fitted with #ETCS to run at up to 190 km/h on the VDE8 in regular passenger operations. As a result, the travel times between cities along the VDE 8 (Nuremberg -Coburg-Erfurt) for Commuter trains have been reduced significantly. For example the schedule between Coburg and Erfurt by regional train has been reduced from more than 3 hours to only 36 minutes. A big thank you to the whole project team to reach this aim. 🌟 Recap of CAMINO's first online seminar! 🌟 On 14 May 2024, our first online seminar on future CCAM scenarios and market engagement took place. Many of our associated organisations and wider interest groups participated. Key Highlights: ➡ AV Strategies: Koen Schietecatte from De Lijn presented studies on shared automated mobility, including operational strategies and market analysis. Key points included their model for Flanders, which demonstrates how automated vehicles could affect travel.  ➡ Tendering and Market Engagement: Gemeente Almere, represented by Lysander Van Der Sluis, discussed integrating AV into public transport. The presentation focused on AV operations on dedicated bus lanes and first/last-mile solutions, as well the planned tender for the BRT city network and bus lines between Almere and Amsterdam in December 2027.  ➡ Traffic Modelling: Lesley De Beuckeleer from De Lijn showcased their traffic model, which uses software to simulate future transport scenarios and assess the impact of automated vehicles. Discussion Questions: ➡ Preparation and Integration: How are organisations preparing for the transition to automated driving? How will Robotaxis/shuttles integrate with private car usage and public transport—are they an add-on or a substitution, and what scale of impact is expected?  ➡ Transition to Digital Drivers: When should human-driven buses be replaced by digital drivers, and what changes are necessary to consider this shift?  ➡ Managing Uncertainty and Financial Benefits: How do we manage the uncertainty of technological and regulatory advances while ensuring offerings remain relevant? The European micromobility market continues to grow, but rapid expansion has outpaced regulation, resulting in a somewhat messy regulatory environment. TRL's work for the European Commission in 2021 (link below) outlined a variety of options for the technical regulation of Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs). Now, in partnership with fka GmbH, we are building on this previous study to investigate the feasibility and potential consequences of the application of a set of minimum technical requirements, and possible compliance mechanisms, for the most common types of PMD. The objective is to provide the Commission with a set of detailed recommendations on how to harmonise technical rules for PMDs across the EU, ultimately to support innovation in micromobility whilst also maximising safety, environmental sustainability and societal utility. #micromobility #regulation 2021 study: https://lnkd.in/gafinEa)

The DGCA has issued an advisory circular providing Guidance Material for the Design, Operation, and Authorization of Vertiports for VTOL/STOL in India. The advisory circular establishes a regulatory framework to ensure safe and efficient operations, accelerating the development of UAM infrastructure. This step signifies the beginning of a new era in urban transportation, enabling the integration of Advanced Air Mobility solutions and positioning India at the forefront of this global innovation. The future of air mobility is now becoming a reality in India.
