In case you missed it: our CEO, Linda Harradine, was on ABC7 this week discussing the work we do at Legal Aid of Manasota and why it's so crucial to keeping our community strong. Click through to hear Linda discuss: ✔️ What it means for a small nonprofit like Legal Aid of Manasota to lose $172,000 in public funding after providing free civil legal services to low-income residents for 33 years. ✔️ Why cutting public funds at a time when our residents are facing eviction or foreclosure due to Hurricane Debby is devastating to our community—and how these types of cases are growing. ✔️ A special donor who stepped up by donating $100,000 to help bridge the gap in public funding. ✔️ Who needs civil legal services—and why they may not be who you think ✔️ How the justice system suffers when there is no legal aid and the impact on our courts, judges, attorneys and clients. ✔️ Why we need your support now more than ever! https://lnkd.in/eNEP2CXd

Interesting article on Co-ops success in the legal services business - wills, probate and estate planning. A big part of this is attributed to partnerships: "Partnerships are another key plank of CLS’s strategy and in added more than 10 in 2023, including Saga, the Co-operative Bank and Central Co-op – neither of which are owned by the Co-operative Group – and Barnardo’s, Co-op’s charity partner." Having been involved in a number of legal services partnerships over the years, lots of opportunity to innovate still exists in this market. Customer proposition and brand fit are key to success. https://lnkd.in/e8hHiqNN

We've got a lot 📈 going on as the new work year starts to get into full swing ... 1) We've finalized a Conservation Restriction 🌲 for a client 2) We've got a LOT going on Land Court 👨⚖️ 👩⚖️, from requests for a title transfer after a death, to a withdrawal of land from the registration system for condo purposes, to another withdrawal of a portion of a parcel that's registered land, to a possible complaint for a trespass! *** ❗Note to any developers or flippers, if you're converting any properties into condo's that are registered land, talk to us and we can help remove the land from land court and save you time, money and a lot of headaches❗*** 3) Wrapping up our first few residential real estate transactions 🏘 of the year 4) Finalizing a voluntary dissolution for a charity 🙌 5) Helping a local municipality in formally accepting a couple of private ways as public ways. 🛣 Dedication. Service. Results. How can we help you? #realestatelawyer #gelermancabral #landcourt #conservationland #lawyersoflinkedin #realestatelaw www.gelermancabral.com

Every day, numerous individuals and families within our community encounter legal disputes. These disagreements can be mentally exhausting and financially straining, often leaving long-lasting impacts. At NVMS Conflict Resolution Center, we believe in providing fair and peaceful conflict resolution to all, regardless of their financial situation. Our pro bono mediation services cater to low-income residents in need. Through mediation, certified professionals authorized by the Supreme Court of Virginia facilitate discussions and negotiations between conflicting parties, assisting them in finding mutually acceptable resolutions. These services enable individuals to steer clear of expensive lawsuits, maintain relationships, and progress with respect. The continuation of our crucial services relies on the kindness of supporters like yourself. As a non-profit organization, we depend on donations to cover the expenses linked to offering pro bono assistance to low-income residents, sustaining administrative functions, and ensuring inclusivity for all participants. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference. Here's how your support can help: $50: Covers the cost of each client intake. $100: Helps provide a modest stipend to mediators who provide services. $250: Supports the training of community conflict peace advocates. $500: Enables NVMS to offer interpretation services for a limited-English-proficient participant. Every contribution: Brings us closer to our goal of ensuring everyone in our community has access to conflict resolution services. Your support will help to create these positive impacts: Empowered individuals: Parties in conflict gain a voice and the opportunity to resolve their disputes on their own terms. Stronger communities: When conflicts are resolved constructively, relationships remain intact, and neighborhoods thrive. Reduced court congestion: Mediation diverts cases from the court system, saving taxpayer dollars, and streamlining the legal process. With your help, we can provide this valuable pro bono service.

The Legal Services Corporation is the single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans in the nation. Established in 1974, LSC operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that promotes equal access to justice and provides grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans. LSC distributes more than 90 percent of its total funding to 131 independent nonprofit legal aid programs (including Community Legal Aid). Millions of Americans with low incomes count on legal aid to protect them and to build a better life. Can they count on you? Help protect America’s promise. Take the pledge: lsc.gov/sign-pledge

Quote of the day: “'We will not be able to get everybody full-service, full legal representation for all of their legal needs,' said Jennifer Leitch, executive director of the National Self-Represented Litigants Project (NSRLP) during a webinar held on the first day of Access to Justice Week.” This is why alternatives like JusticeAccess are so important. We can help where an individual's legal needs don't require full service legal help. Your donation today will help build our capacity to help even more. Remember, if you make a monthly donation, you'll be among the first to know when our not-an-advice-columnist Roger posts a new InterRogerTory and answer! Donate at justiceaccess.org, and to make a monthly donation, just click on the "monthly" tab in the donate box. Quotation source: https://lnkd.in/eB9dJq6C
