As we’ve always said, after every race, we make it a point to sit down and listen. The feedback we receive from our runners is invaluable—it's not just about how they performed, that has pretty much never formed part of any race report (how crazy is that for a race organiser!?!), but how Impact Marathon has touched their lives on every level. We dive deep into understanding what has changed for them, what they’ve experienced, and how they've been transformed. One story that truly stands out is that of Dionisio. A Guatemalan runner from our race back in 2021, Dionisio’s journey has to be heard. His story is a powerful testament to the impact we strive to create. It starts with one person, but the ripple effect reaches far beyond that—touching communities and the country. Dionisio’s experience highlights the essence of what Impact Marathon is all about: creating positive change that spreads, one person at a time. It’s a reminder that the true impact of our races isn’t just measured in miles run, but in lives transformed. Through our Impact Runner Development Fund, we support Dionisio with entry, transport, accommodation, and some Impact race kit - he went out and crushed the route yet he didn’t forget to treasure every step along the way. We are incredibly proud of the stories like Dionisio’s that emerge from our races. These are the stories that fuel our passion and commitment to continue making a difference. A united RNDV team participated in Vilties bėgimas relay race, running a marathon together, 5,3km each. Many team members set personal records for the 5km, clearly giving their maximum effort. 👏🙌 When I reflected on this experience, I found strong parallels to professional life and the conditions for high performance: • Competition - Competing often brings out the best in us. When you are surrounded by great athletes or professionals, you strive to perform your best. Even positive competition within the team can lead to great results. 🙌 • Support - When colleagues, friends, and family cheer for you, you feel energized and motivated. 👏 • Team Spirit - The most important one. Understanding that the team's result depends on your performance makes you give your best effort. Mohican 100 Race Report (2024) Finishing time: 31:45:28.23 Overall: 83/85 (finishers), 83/190 (total starters) F: 13/14 AG: 2/2 DNFs: 104 DQ: 1 Elevation gain: 11,000 ft – 12,500+ ft This race is deceptively brutal. Like my friend Amanda says, “this race will eat you, chew you up, and spit you out.” 3 reasons why I think this race was so hard 1: the technicalness of the trail. 2: the trail weaves around a ton, which messes with you mentally because you know that you’re weaving around and feel like you’re not getting anywhere at times. 3: hills. The course is “rolling hills” and some are steep. I used trekking poles for the last two “short” loops, my legs were shot after the two long ones. During these hard efforts, I was feeling really glad that I increased my strength training, especially upper body, while taking time off from running leading up to the race. The trail was gorgeous, waterfalls and gorges. A lot of ferns. The woods were dense.
