Defence Research and Development Canada | Recherche et développement pour la défense Canada (DRDC) - CUAS Concept Development Call for Proposals is Now Open The IDEaS program is kicking its Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems (CUAS) challenge up a notch by offering innovators a new opportunity to propose their low Technology Readiness Level (TRL 1-5) game changing CUAS developmental solutions. Like the CUAS Sandbox, CUAS Concept Development is seeking conceptual solutions able to detect and/or defeat Micro and Mini Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) with systems that can be integrated into the broader military command and control systems. Innovators will be eligible for up to $2.5M in funding per project to advance their concepts into tangible technology, ready to be tested in a real-world environment. BAE Systems has been selected by the Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Enterprise Consortium (SpEC) to provide a prototype ground system for the U.S. Space Force’s SSC Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution Command and Control (FORGE C2) project. The goal of the FORGE C2 effort is to evolve the current ground architecture, leveraging newer technologies and architecture approaches. BAE Systems will integrate proven capabilities into a prototype ground system that will allow the Space Force to provide command and control capabilities for Next-Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) GEO (NGG) and Next-Generation OPIR Polar (NGP) systems as well as enabling the transition of the legacy Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) assets. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/g5J-ZG4q

🔎 Enhancing military Space Situational Awareness (SSA) capabilities to support Space Domain Awareness. That is the primary objective of the #EMISSARY (European Military Integrated Space Situational Awareness and Recognition Capability) project, coordinated by Leonardo, involving over 40 members across 13 European countries and SMEs together with major key players. 🎯 EMISSARY will develop a network of advanced sensors, both ground and space based, and a Command and Control to process and disseminate data, increasing space information capability in multi-domain operations. This will ensure national and European multilateral sovereignty. The aim of this project is to reach a prototyping, demonstration and qualification phase for a large set of technologies developed in previous European Defence Fund (#EDF) projects such as INTEGRAL and SAURON. 🤝 Including the EMISSARY project, #Leonardo is actively involved in 13 of the 56 research and development projects in the defence sector, awarded by the European Commission, and foreseen by the third call of EDF, ranking second among all the participants in terms of number of projects, which concern various areas including land, #space, self-protection, avionics, sensing, #cyber and #artificialintelligence.

The European Commission has recently selected #EMISSARY under the “Initial operational capacity for Space situational awareness C2 and sensors” call, reinforcing our commitment to advancing collective security in space as part of the European Defence Fund (EDF) programme. Following the INTEGRAL (command and control centre) and SAURON (identification and characterisation sensors) European Defence Industrial Development Programmes led respectively by Leonardo and Ariane Group, Telespazio France will continue to contribute to innovation in defense technology. Led by Leonardo with French coordination driven by ArianeGroup and a budget of €100 million, EMISSARY unites 47 partners from 13 countries. ⏩ Quantum Technologies for Air and Space - Quantum-Enhanced Radars and Electronic Warfare: Use Cases and Timelines ⏪ is the title of my latest paper, which is based on great discussions with individual experts on various aspects of warfighting from the Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC). The goal is to provide a more realistic analysis of possible quantum technology utilisation in the space and air domain and in the near term, let's say by 2030.
