"I had a terrible experience with H&S before and they wouldn't let us do anything creative" Exact quote from a DoP last night on a project we are looking after. Why is this the case? None of what he'd suggested previously was particularly out there, it just required a degree of management and mitigation to be achieved safely. For instance, wanting to mount lighting above head height in an exterior environment. The equipment is designed and built for that purpose, the gaffer is skilled in setting these up and could walk us through how he would setup the equipment and how it would be secured (I.E. Clear Method). We agreed it would marshalled due to the slight chance of public access and then immediately taken down following the scene. We'll manage the weather risk, but previously, this had been a blanket no?! Why do we have advisors being so risk adverse that the default becomes No? I describe us as a little health and safety monkey, hopping around the project pretty much minding their own business, but ready to swing in as soon as anything gets careless, reckless or poses a risk to the crew, public or indeed anyone. Whether its a film project or an event, Safety Management should be about fostering your client's abilities, making them more streamlined and taking the burden off them so they can focus on what they do best. Of course, tell them no when they get a bit too mental, but also, tell them why! (Here's a completely unrelated photograph of me in a Bee Suit contemplating what I had gotten myself into on another job, where, you guessed it, there were bees. HART eat your heart out.) #DoP #FilmSet #FilmMaking #Advice #Safety #SafetyManagement #TV #Film #EventSafety #Medical #SafetyAndMedical MEDIREK

I live in a country where 1.3 million people live and close to a million cars exist on the road. What I realise is that there are more unsafe behaviours on the roadway than we think. Within the last 3–4 months, 3500 speeding tickets have been given. So Monday morning, I am heading to work, and a security guard from the largest security firm crosses under the walkover on their phone. Their action forced two cars to slow down on a three-lane highway. She would have to walk down an embankment and then cross another three lanes. This individual is going to enforce your policies. Why should we listen to this individual who cannot follow simple life-saving steps? How your employees act in public is a reflection of your safety culture. Safety is not just on the job but also off the job.

I hope nothing goes wrong at events I work, but if it does: 👉 We can show off our skills as a team, we will spring into action to show attendees and organisers that we do whatever it takes to handle risks. 👉 Event organisers start to take safeguarding seriously once something goes wrong at their events, and they’re more likely to hire safeguarding in the future. 👉 People are way more likely to take safety even more seriously for themselves if they’re at an event where safety is compromised, even if that means they start to wear more recognisable clothing. There’s always the real risk that something is going to go wrong at your event, so don’t leave safety to chance, hire safeguarding. #safety #safeguarding #safeguardingteam #safeguardingconsultant

Safety is our top priority. Earlier this week, IDOT employees and supervisors dedicated the beginning of their day to review best practices and to remind workers that work zone safety is proactive and should be the primary focus of our work. It’s crucial that we actively work on identifying hazards, seeking solutions, and encouraging our peers to follow all safety steps to avoid injuries and fatalities. #NWZAW #SlowForTheConeZone #Orange4Safety

At Gunnebo, safety is more than just a commitment, it's our purpose. Prioritizing workplace safety and fire prevention is crucial. By actively identifying and eliminating workplace hazards like tangled cords, unsafe storage of flammables, and blocked exits, we can significantly reduce potential risks. Finally, fostering a culture of safety requires continuous vigilance. Remember, safety starts with each one of us playing our part. This National Safety Week, join us in promoting fire safety awareness and a culture of safety in your workplace. #Minimax #NationalSafetyWeek #SafetyFirst #FireSafety #FireSolutions

If people are not paying attention to safety barricades or signage, it could be due to various reasons: 1. Lack of Awareness: Some individuals may simply not notice the barricades or signage because they are not paying attention or are unaware of their significance. 2. Distractions: People may be preoccupied with other thoughts, tasks, or distractions, causing them to overlook or ignore the barricades and signage. 3. Overconfidence: Some individuals may feel overly confident in their ability to navigate the area safely without adhering to safety precautions. 4. Complacency: If people are accustomed to working in the same environment every day, they may become complacent and fail to recognize potential hazards. 5. Poor Visibility: If the barricades or signage are not clearly visible or are obstructed by other objects, people may not notice them. In any case, this may involve improving the visibility of signage, providing additional training or reminders to workers, or implementing stricter enforcement of safety protocols. #moufidtaleb #safetyfirst #opentonewopportunities #seekingnewjob

Halloween is coming up and we're here to remind you to stay safe in your workplace with this series of safety tips: Halloween Safety Tip #4: Ensure employees are up-to-date on Safety Data Sheets (SDS). This is a top 10 most frequently cited standard from OSHA! It’s essential for every team member to understand the hazards of the materials they work with, as well as the proper handling, storage, and emergency response procedures. By prioritizing SDS training and accessibility, you not only comply with OSHA regulations on hazard communication, but also help employees work safely and confidently. This Halloween, remember that there is nothing scarier than being unsafe in the workplace!🎃🦺 #ManufacturingSafety #Halloween #OSHA
