As I prepare to ride 🚴♂️160 miles tomorrow for the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), I wanted to share why this event means so much to me. After my kids lost their mother to cancer and seeing so many other family members and friends impacted, I’ve witnessed firsthand how crucial this cause is. The PMC not only reflects the values of leadership and commitment that I hold dear in business, but it also puts those values into action in the fight against cancer. The true magic of the PMC lies in the vision of its founder, Billy Starr. He didn’t just create a fundraising event—he built a movement grounded in commitment and ownership. From the start, Starr made it clear that the PMC wasn’t just about cycling; it was about taking on a mission to fight cancer. By encouraging every participant to see fundraising as a personal commitment to the cause, he inspired a deep sense of responsibility in everyone involved. This ownership is what makes the PMC so powerful and impactful. This approach has transformed the PMC into more than just an event—it’s a community united by a shared purpose. Raising money isn’t just an obligation; it’s a way to contribute to something bigger than ourselves. That’s why, year after year, the PMC continues to grow, touching more lives and raising nearly $1 billion to fight cancer.
