Family Medicine Physician | General Practitioner | Lifestyle Medicine Physician | Telemedicine Practitioner | Seeking a Job opportunity in an Outpatient Clinic with Integrated Telehealth Service.
One of the roles of a family physician is coordinating patient care with specialists and other health professionals. But sometimes, referring a patient to a specialist can be a long and frustrating process in the hospital. It usually starts with the patient having to go to the record office to get an appointment. However, because there are so many patients and not enough specialists, the record office often has to schedule a long appointment time for the patient. This means patients often have to wait for weeks or even months before they can see a specialist. While waiting, the illness can become too complicated and too expensive to treat. The complications can also occur unexpectedly, causing unplanned stress for patients and their caregiver, and also putting extra pressure on emergency services. Other times, patients end up seeking substandard or alternative health care which can result in poor treatment, poor outcome and waste of money. But with telemedicine, coordinating care with specialists has been quite a breeze for me. I've been able to access specialists directly for an alternative opinion, timely advice, specialist recommendations, instant prescriptions for my patients, and even quicker access to inpatient specialist care. I facilitate this for my patients during face- to- face consultations or from the comfort of their homes during virtual consultations. The satisfaction it brings my patients is so satisfying. Yes, telemedicine can be that good. And it can even be better. #Familymedicine #familyphysician #primarycarephysician #primarycare #coordinatedcare

Return on investment (ROI) Clinic ROI includes reduced health care costs, enhanced member experience, improved access, recruitment and retention, referral management and increased productivity. The most successful clinics always include two key components: https://lnkd.in/eKXE2ZQr The clinic’s ability to manage patients and keep care in the clinic. This results in fewer ER and urgent care visits, fewer outpatient and inpatient claims and increased adherence to prescription medications. Members seeking care for diabetes, hypertension, depression or #musculoskeletalrelateddisorders should all cost the health plan less.

Transforming Home and Community Care | Head of Canadian and International Markets Strategy | Adjunct Faculty | National Health Fellow | The Future of Care is in the Home
Recent revelations about delayed care for thousands of Alberta patients due to referral issues underscore a systemic problem: our reliance on outdated, fragmented care models. These delays aren't just bureaucratic errors—they're missed opportunities for early interventions, better outcomes, and, in some cases, life-saving treatments. But here’s the thing: this isn't just an Alberta issue, and it's not just about one referral system. It's about a broader need to invest in home care and digital health to streamline processes and prevent these kinds of oversights from happening in the first place. The future of healthcare needs to be closer to home and powered by the right technology. Imagine the impact if more resources were directed towards virtual care, remote monitoring, and AI-driven risk predictors that allow patients to get care in their homes. https://lnkd.in/gheFguCv #DigitalHealth #HomeCare #PatientFirst #integratedcare
