The moon landing is one of the most incredible feats accomplished by humanity yet, we mostly only remember two people for it: Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin yet there was a third person. His name is Michael Collins You probably never heard of him because he had to stay in the spacecraft to ensure that they could come back to earth. It'll be crazy to think of this man as a failure but. That's now the way we tend to judge things. To us, he went so close but never stepped foot on it; He almost made it Think of Liverpool in the 2018/2019 season and the 2019/2020 season where they had 97 and 99 points at the end of the premier League season. For perspective, Chelsea has in the turn of the new Millennium (2000's) won 5 Premier league titles all of which were won with less points than Liverpool's records. Do you know what the catch is? They didn't win the league. No doubt, 1 loss in 38 premier League games is as close to Invincible as any club has ever come however, we remember them as the team as the second best team. This is a hard reality of life. You're only remembered when you win. When you win, the sleepless nights are part of an incredible story of triumph when you lose, you're just another person. Seeing this harsh truth stands as reality, what can we do? We can win. We have to define what winning is, examine the cost of winning and determine if it's worth it and if it is, win!

Federer’s latest slam Federer proved why “he’s the ONE” (due attribution to Matrix) for many of us with his Commencement address at Dartmouth college. If you had to see one life/leadership video (in addition to getting tips on your racquet grip and follow through) maybe this is the one. But beware it can be depressing. For one, Federer said that “effortless” is a myth and he had to work very hard to look so gifted on the court.. there goes all the excuse of blaming our gene pool for our failures. Then Federer talked about a point being just a point - once it’s done, move on - only if that was so simple - they didn’t equip the brain with a file delete option after extracting the learnings through gen AI - tough advice to follow. Then he says there’s life outside the court - many of us couldn’t find an alternative identity to our visiting cards and many current greats in many areas would give the impression that they only live for their vocation - there goes simple mantra of prioritising one aspect of life at the expense of others. Not to mention the depressing fact that Federer started his philanthropic foundation at the age of 22 well before he made more money than he could count - so another excuse shattered. And last just being super nice….that’s the most depressing one especially when “nice guys finish last” seems to have been hammered into our heads.
