The stone in the shoe of education: Partnering with frontier organisations worldwide. CEO & Founder.
The De-Extinction of the Dodo. Throughout 2023, during workshops and keynotes, I've mentioned that as educators, we are sleeping on Genomics as a highly significant future lens for our middle and high school learners. De-extinction plans by US-based biotechnology and genetic engineering company Colossal Biosciences will only add to the domain's importance. The Dodo, which has been extinct since 1681, could be returning. #genomics #bioscience #biomedicalresearch #biomedicalengineering #lensofthefuture

🌟 Sciborg Spotlight 🌟 At TetraScience, we are proud to have a team of incredible Scientific Business Analysts, whom we call "Sciborgs." They deliver tremendous value to our customers by bridging expertise across science, data, and business outcomes. We recently asked Lindsey Weed, Ph.D., one of our talented Tetra Sciborgs, about the scientist who inspires her the most: 🔬 "The scientist who inspires me the most is Rosalind Franklin. Her X-ray diffraction images were pivotal in revealing the double helix structure of DNA. Franklin's contributions went largely unrecognized during her lifetime, but her dedication to uncovering the truth of molecular structures has left an indelible mark on science and, as a molecular biologist myself, has been particularly relevant in my research developing cell and gene therapies. Her legacy of perseverance and passion for science motivates me to navigate the challenges of being in a male-dominated field with the same determination and commitment to truth. Her story reminds us that true scientific discovery demands not only intelligence and skill, but also courage and resilience and is a testament to the power of the pursuit of knowledge. She should serve as a role model for aspiring scientists everywhere." — Lindsey Weed We're inspired by our Sciborgs and the work they do every day to help our customers achieve scientific outcomes. #TetraScience #SciborgSpotlight #Inspiration #WomenInScience #ScientificDiscovery #RosalindFranklin #MolecularBiology #CellAndGeneTherapy

A framework for the evaluation and reporting of incidental findings in clinical genomic testing | European Journal of Human Genetics (nature.com) Currently, there are no widely accepted recommendations in the genomics field guiding the return of incidental findings (IFs), defined here as unexpected results that are unrelated to the indication for testing. Consequently, reporting policies for IFs among laboratories offering genomic testing are variable and may lack transparency. Herein we describe a framework developed to guide the evaluation and return of IFs encountered in probands undergoing clinical genome sequencing (cGS). The framework prioritizes clinical significance and actionability of IFs and follows a stepwise approach with stopping points at which IFs may be recommended for return or not.

While the meek may inherit the earth, the Sciborgs will save it. What is a Sciborg? It's a high-agency person with serious creds in AI/data and life sciences -- like our own Lindsey Weed, Ph.D. (profiled below). Sciborgs are inventing cheap energy, safe chemicals, better therapies, and providing abundance. They are the force multipliers of the next century. One of our responsibilities at TetraScience is to find Sciborgs and give them a safe place to work and learn. We don’t want to be the only place that champions them. Any research-led organization should because Sciborgs are the only way to accelerate critical discoveries.

Exciting times at the XLIX Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Society for Immunology in Porto! Over the past two days, Fátima Castro Ferreira and Vítor Hugo Gonçalves proudly represented NZYtech, showcasing our cutting-edge solutions in molecular biology at the Fundação Eng. António de Almeida at an event organized by SPI Sociedade Portuguesa de Imunologia. It was a privilege to engage with fellow experts and enthusiasts in the field, exchanging insights and fostering collaborations. Events like these not only highlight our commitment to innovation but also reinforce our dedication to advancing scientific research. #molecularbiology #research #lifesciences

Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science | Deep Learning | Transfer Learning | System Biology | Drug Discovery | System Pharmacology | Lei Xie's Research Lab | VP of Dark Matter therapeutics
🎉 Check out my 6th published work MMAPLE on Nature Communications Biology! MMAPLE is a method exploring out-of-distribution (OOD) unlabeled data when conventional transfer learning fails. The uniqueness of MMAPLE is to integrate the concepts of meta-learning, transfer learning, and semi-supervised learning into a unified framework. The power of MMAPLE is demonstrated in three applications in an OOD setting where chemicals or proteins in unseen data are dramatically different from those in training data: predicting drug-target interactions, hidden human metabolite-enzyme interactions, and understudied interspecies microbiome metabolite-human receptor interactions. https://lnkd.in/e_KJMGWr Thanks to my Ph.D advisor Lei Xie and all the coauthors!
