This Holiday Season, we are thankful for so much - at the top of our list is you, our amazing community who keeps us going. As we head into the next few years, our work is ever important to grow and scale the impact of stakeholder-based business models. If you or your organization would like to contribute to the development and growth of the B Corp movement in Illinois or if you found value from our organization this year and would like to help us grow, please consider donating to https://lnkd.in/gsU_cPyE Due to your incredible support, this year, we: 🟢 Secured a full roster of 7 Board Members, added 4 members to our Advisory Board and premiered our Deputy Board program with the welcome of 2 members. 🟢 Clarified and formalized our purpose, vision, mission, and core activation pillars to support our B Corp community in meaningful ways. 🟢 Streamlined our events strategy to deliver incremental value to our community. Through quarterly events in collaboration with B-Corp partners (thank you Armanino, Arabella Advisors, Pariveda, and Jill Pollack of StoryStudio Chicago for hosting) we organized panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities that furthered the education, community-building, and collaboration opportunity of our member B Corps and B Curious Companies. 🟢 Launched the first-ever B Impact Clinic in Chicago with our partner University of Illinois Chicago giving students an inside look at how B Corps work, and the needs & challenges they face. This gave students the opportunity to develop innovative ideas to help our B Corps, while fostering awareness & collaboration opportunities between students and impact-focused companies. 🟢 Re-vamped internal operations to build a solidified and cohesive marketing presence to amplify the incredible work our B Corps do everyday. But we're not done! Next year - our goals are EVEN BIGGER. We aim to: ⬆️ Grow our offerings with more networking events, workshops, panels, and opportunity for community building. 👩🏽 Develop a women's series focused on the growth and development of women leaders across our community. 👨🏫 Expand the influence and presence of the B Impact Clinic. 🏞️ Partner with community-based organizations for volunteering activities. 🧐 Proactively support the B Corp process with B Curious organizations. 💹 Build a long-term operational model to scale our influence & advocacy of the B Corp movement. 🏛️ Partner with members of local government to advocate for the interests of our B Corp organizations. 📣 Continue to build a robust marketing presence to amplify, support, and deliver value to our B Corps. If you can help, any little bit goes a long way. Please consider donating to https://lnkd.in/gsU_cPyE

I had an inspiring evening at the Axios’ Giving Tuesday: The Future of Philanthropy event! It was incredible to hear from Tim Cadogan CEO of GoFundMe, and Jean Case, CEO of the Case Foundation, as they discussed their experience in the evolving landscape of philanthropy and the innovative ways people are addressing critical societal challenges. Here are some key takeaways for impact professionals who missed it: ✨ Don’t be afraid to PUBLICLY ask for help — for yourself or on behalf of others. There are people who have the means to help (financially, through their network or with their skills) but don’t know who or how to help. Also, you might inspire someone else to speak up about their own need. ✨ Take time to understand and learn from those you are trying to serve by asking THEM what THEY need or want (instead of assuming) when creating projects and programs to address their needs. ✨ Don’t be afraid to share your failures so other philanthropists and nonprofits can learn from them. “If you’re really trying to save the world, chances are you are taking a risk in some way and you may have failed a time or two.” — Jean Case Let these simple points serve as reminders as you finalize your 2024 reporting or 2025 program and financial planning. Kudos to Axios’ Kate Laughlin Marino and Felix Salmon for moderating such engaging one-on-one conversations. And thank you to Axios for creating a space where changemakers can connect, learn, and spark new ideas during the networking reception. Events like these remind us of the power of collaboration and bold ideas in shaping a more equitable future. ✨My last takeaway ✨ for those of you who are intimidated by in-person networking, I encourage you to walk into these events reminding yourself everyone in the room has their own unique personal or professional story. Approach people as a listener to hear their story and you’re certain to leave with some great new connections. I’m never disappointed going up to strangers at a networking event. Shoutout to some of my newest connections from the event — prais'jah woodkins, Sarah Schwed, Kimberly Olund, Kyle Stevens and Pamela Weber-Leaf. I’m inspired by the work that each of you do! #GivingTuesday #FutureOfPhilanthropy #Networking #SocialImpact

Unpopular Opinion: Invite Nonprofits into CSR Strategy Discussions! When developing a CSR strategy, nonprofits are often left on the sidelines, waiting for companies to define goals and deliver impact metrics without their insights. But imagine how much stronger our strategies could be if nonprofits, with their deep community knowledge and on-the-ground expertise, were in the room from the start🎯. If we bring nonprofits into conversations earlier, we can co-develop metrics that reflect community needs, design initiatives that target real, measurable outcomes, can better assess the type of programs and partnerships that are needed (not necessarily what’s trending), and build a more sustainable impact. By co-creating goals, we move from “giving back” to actively investing in transformative change. Think about how trust-based philanthropy can reshape corporate giving, where nonprofits are partners in setting goals rather than passive recipients. Including nonprofits in CSR planning isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do. It empowers both parties to leverage their strengths and create lasting, meaningful impact. Similarly, the most impactful nonprofits invite the voices of those they serve into the conversation. When we design strategies and partnerships informed by what the community truly needs, we build solutions that are not only effective but also empowering. The best insights come directly from those who experience the challenges firsthand. 👉🏽So, here’s the invitation: let’s open our strategy rooms to nonprofit leaders. Let’s ask the tough questions together and build CSR initiatives that are informed, authentic, and impactful.

Is #artificialintelligence the magic salvo to cure all ills? Of course not. If there's one thing we've learned from all those Terminator movies, it's that humans will always need to play the biggest role in determining how to navigate through the inevitable chaos. I contributed my thoughts #AI in this latest roundup from Forbes Nonprofit Council. #nonprofits
