As a producer, you HAVE to put the effort in to learn about your client's business, product, marketplace and goals. I never ask flimsy 'open questions'... Detailed prior research is absolutely key to understanding the event and how to deliver your clients business objective. This event was fully over subscribed and the attendees loved it. The secret, is conveying the value they got from attending. If others can see and APPRECIATE why your event (like this one) absolutely smashed it... They'll be fired up to attend and not miss the next one. It's not telling people your event is awesome. It's showing them... with receipts (as they say). I love this stuff. Events not working these days? Nah. Stop making boring B2B tradeshows even more boring! You're in charge: make your events sizzle... 👇 Booking the booth on the tradeshow and sending your sales team. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH. Four ideas that I have seen regular success with: 1. Host training sessions. On booth. Live. 2. Create an award for your industry or customers. 3. Host a drink reception. "Mettez les petits plats dans les grands !" 4. Be edgy with a live/podcast: your whole industry is supposed to be there. Not sure how to do any of this? Call me. It's 50% getting the right idea and refining it. And 50%. executing flawlessly to wow your audience. Honestly, you don't get better opportunities than this in B2B to: a- put a spark in the eyes of your target b- give them memories for a lifetime. 10,000 times more important than the number of leads you'll make. Not quite as bad as high school, but not too far off… 🥴 To de-clique your events and make them inviting for newcomers and “industry legends” alike, weave in things like: - Assigned seating for a meal - Facilitated networking (using conversation starters and name tag stickers) - Structured roundtable discussions with people who have varying backgrounds - Professional “speed dating” to encourage some mixing and mingling Your goal as an event marketer is to give everyone who attends your event a unique, valuable experience. This can’t happen if attendees only hang out with the one person they know at the event from start to finish. #eventmarketing

B2B events desperately need some innovation. Most say they’re different but are they really?! Now I don’t know if Goldenhour is changing that but I sure as sheet hope so. They are doing some interesting and different things though, such as 👉 Dedicated networking for everyone to chat with speakers 👉 Companies are sponsoring content activations, not booths. So you don’t have to be worried about sneaky badge scanners 👉 Venue is a skyrise with a hot tub that may or may not be usable 🤷♂️ 👉 Obaid Durrani and Dave Gerhardt are going (and they don’t go to anything, which is fair) 👉 Speaker line up is ridiculous, all you realky need to know for that is that Kaylee is speaking I’m excited. 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 VS 𝟮% of my customers attended my B2B event. Is this success or failure? It is about how you look at numbers and how you define success. • 2% of engaged customers is close to nothing. • BUT 100 people sounds like a good(ish) B2B industry event. 👉 Important factor to add to the numbers: this was a 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 event. Each attendee had an average 1.7 pre-scheduled B2B meetings. 👉 Another important number to add to the equation: 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 4% 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻. Did my event offer VALUE or not? Beyond just counting interactions: → how meaningful and engaging each connection was? → how many connections continue interacting 3, 6, or 12 months post-event? → how many tangible outcomes (like collaborations, projects, or start-ups) resulted from event connections? ✔️ Numbers never lie. ✔️ Marketing sometimes does. We need 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 and a 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁 to organize events that offer value. 📌 PS. Check out my guide: Business Matchmaking in Events.
