We all have a purpose on this Earth ! We need to protect our wildlife ! Cutting down trees and building communities ; takes away their homes ! Which leads them to making homes near us or right where we are staying . They are doing their best to adapt and try to survive just like us . This shouldn’t be survival of the fittest , rather we should see what we could do to help them thrive too . Not only that but trees have other benefits than just protecting wildlife ! Trees are something we need to live ! Ask your legislators, council, and other members to protect wildlife , protect wetlands , and protect our trees . I know we have gotten accustomed to having things right by us , you drive and you see so many stores. So many stores that sell the same thing . On one hand we have come a long way ! And it’s nice to have the convenience of a store being 3 mins away . On the flip side of that for our own comfortability we are sacrificing innocent beings ! For our own comfort . I believe that certain developments shouldn’t be built if we already have a similar establishment . That way we can conserve land for our animals as well . I have seen to many dead wildlife in a such short period of time . Remember as we have signs stating Drive like your children live here , we need to drive like wildlife live among us too ! They want to get to their love ones at the end of the day as well . I feel like as a society we have been desensitized! Have lost compassion and forgot what taking care of Mother Earth looks like . We need to do the right thing not for personal gain but for Unity, Grace , and love . The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) recent report reveals that wetlands (mostly freshwater) now cover less than 6% of the lower 48 states, half their original area. Loss rates have increased by 50% since 2009. The report calls for action to reverse this trend and continue providing future generations with clean water, protection against natural disasters, resilience to climate change, and habitats for wildlife. #Wetlands #Conservation #NatureBasedSolutions

Kroenke Ranches is taking bold new steps on Texas’s WAGGONER RANCH by adopting a holistic approach to the ecological management of the historic 560,000-acre ranch’s significant wildlife resources. The primary land-management techniques currently being employed by the Wildlife Division are targeted specifically at quail and white-tailed deer habitats. Since Stan Kroenke purchased the Waggoner Ranch in February 2016, brush management has been performed on more than 150,000 acres of the 875-square-mile landholding. Great Horned Owls are currently nesting in the forest preserves, adding excitement to this time of year. To ensure the safety and well-being of these owls and other wildlife, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County kindly request the public's cooperation: If you're aware of animal-nesting locations in the preserves, please avoid tagging or sharing them on social media. Instead, use "Forest Preserve District of Kane County" or "Kane County, Illinois" as the location.  Refrain from approaching wildlife. Maintain a distance of at least 100 feet or more from wildlife. Avoid entering enclosures, including fenced areas. Respect areas closed off for restoration. Do not wade into wetlands. Do not feed wildlife. Do not throw items at wildlife to gain their attention. Stick to designated trails. Keep dogs on a leash at all times (unless in one of our three off-leash preserves). Adhere to all Forest Preserve District Ordinances. If you witness anyone harassing wildlife, please call 911 immediately. Don't wait; a Forest Preserve Officer will be dispatched promptly. Following these tips will ensure the preserves remain enjoyable for visitors while providing a safe and healthy environment for the resident animals. #whykane #forestpreserves #endangeredspecies

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) released their latest report on wetlands status and trends late last week. I’m still working my way through it but something that stands out to me is the focus mitigation puts on functions, but the reporting is still focused on acreage of loss. If our mitigation is shifting instead to replacing functions, how do we do this and still measure our “no net loss”? In PA, both are still considered but new protocols are being developed that are more scientific/function based. One of the stats provided indicated that vegetated wetlands have decreased by 50% but non-vegetated wetlands have increased by 7%. Function based replacement will help improve this statistic. And with the latest CWA guidance updates, state protections of wetlands become more important and the level of state wetland protection varies greatly. Will this be a big contributing factor in years to come? Or instead will we just lose this data because if an isolated wetland is not regulated federally or by the state, will it even be included in the data as a loss as it may not be delineated/tracked?
