“How did we get so scared?”“worst-first thinking” “It makes me crazy to see fear replacing trust – as if fear is smart, and trust is naive. If we give everyone the benefit of the doubt, we will be happier, smarter, and saner than believing the worst of everyone” (Lenore Skenazy, 2024) Lenore Skenazy was elected to the Ashoka Fellowship in 2024. She is leading a major cultural change in the US, moving from fear and over-protection to trust and reasonable independence for children. She created the term “ Free-Range Kids” and now heads a movement of parents, teachers, lawmakers, and health professionals. If I had the opportunity to have dinner with her. I would like to ask her questions about the perception that children must be constantly supervised and assisted, why is that but and how a parent can be convinced that children can be problem solvers and changemarker? 🌟 Empowering the Next Generation 🌟 In a world full of possibilities, the most significant gift we can give our children is the vision to see their true potential. Just like a child in front of a mirror, with dreams of being as mighty as a superhero, our children look up to us. They mirror our actions, consume our values, and follow our leads. As parents and educators, it’s our profound duty to guide them, not just towards academic excellence but to become compassionate, resilient, and ethical individuals. By nurturing their imagination and supporting their dreams, we shape not only their future but the future of our society. Let our children can thrive, learn, and grow under the gentle guidance of those who see their boundless potential. Let's help them look in the mirror and see not only who they are but who they can become. 👨👩👧👦 Join us in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. Because every child deserves to see a hero in the mirror #Empowerthefuture #Nextgenleaders #ChildrensPotential #ParentingGoalsm #EducationalExcellence #FutureHeroes #Childempowerment

𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬✨ _________________________ In 2021, I conceived the idea of establishing an initiative to assist young individuals in uncovering their purpose, leadership potential, and area of influence, as well as in harnessing their full potential, including their gifts, talents, and abilities, to make a positive impact on the world around them. I have always desired to add value, and given my background, I developed a passion for alleviating poverty and helping younger persons become valuable members of society. However, I never considered founding an NGO to achieve this. My biggest challenge was getting started. The same dream that initially excited me suddenly filled me with doubt. I questioned the authenticity of that dream. I reached the point of abandoning the idea entirely and moving on with my 'normal' life. However, this persistent dream continued to haunt me, refusing to go away. I struggled with fear, particularly concerning how to proceed, the necessary resources (both human and financial), and when to begin—I also grappled with a lack of clarity. Thankfully, I had been following great minds like Dr. Myles, from whom I learned that if a dream is authentic, it will withstand the test of time. Fast forward to the first quarter of 2024, my team and I, under the auspices of Upfellows, brought our self-awareness campaign to three high schools in Awka, Anambra State, successfully conducting two. Truly, it's not enough to dream; you must also have faith in God, the giver of all good things, believe that your dreams are valid (believe in your mission), and have faith in yourself. Let's just say that the struggle from 2021 to 2023 allowed me time to build faith for my envisioned journey, to plan, and to connect with like-minded individuals to build a team— and I sure have a great team.💫🤌🏾 My team and I are growing, and making impacts on young people, and we're working towards incorporating the Organisation. I'll introduce my wonderful team, and our Organisation here soon. _________________________ ©️Chris Anizor✍🏾 #linkedinleadershipacademy #youandlinkedin #linkedin #linkedinforcreators

We'd like to take a moment to look back on the research that we have on incredible impact of mentoring, centred around the value of Independence (Mana Motuhake)! The research, conducted after 12 months of mentorship, revealed the remarkable growth experienced by the young people on the Upside Programme. 🌟 88% of parents not only noticed but celebrated their young people embracing extra responsibilities, demonstrating their maturity and growth in managing tasks both at home and school. 🌟An equal 88% of mentors observed their mentees expressing a desire to take on more responsibilities, showcasing their confidence and capability. This kind of growth not only empowers our rangatahi but also provides invaluable support to their whānau and caregivers. Witnessing our young people to thrive under mentorship and make a positive impact in their communities fills us with so much poho kererū (pride). This influential research was made possible through the Upside Outcomes Research, with funding received from the Lottery Community Sector Researching Funding (2020). #UpsideMentoring #YouthEmpowerment #IndependenceMatters #ResearchForChange #upsideyouthmentoringnz #communitysupport

To the incredible youth of today, I know the world is a tough playground. The competition has evolved, and your dreams are bigger than ever. But remember this - #believing in yourself is your greatest superpower. When the going gets tough, let your self-belief be your guiding light. Mentorship is a space I’ve grown to love deeply. It aligns with my business goals and my personal mission to end generational poverty. And let’s be real—it takes a village. Sometimes, you’ve got to be the one to inspire that community, mentor it, and create the change you want to see. What I love most is seeing my mentees grow and thrive. Whether we’re brainstorming or celebrating their progress, it’s incredible knowing that two minds are better than one—and a whole team? Even better. When they build their own boards of directors and lead with confidence, I know I played a part. But listen—mentorship isn’t for everyone. It requires loyalty, selflessness, and humility. It’s about lifting others so they can rise above you. If you’re not ready for that, this space may not be for you. The next generation deserves the best of us. So, be the change, create the space, and inspire the youth. I love being a mentor, and it’s truly one of the most rewarding experiences out there. #mentorship #nextgeneration #students #toronto

January is National Mentoring Month, and before it comes to an end, I hope to encourage others and raise awareness about the power and impact of mentoring. If it weren’t for my mentors, I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today in STEM, and now it’s MY TIME to give back in the same capacity - inspiring our future scholars ✨ • Beyond this month, let’s always remember to recognize and honor the contributions of mentors while also encouraging mentees to dream big, aim high, and conquer the world🌎 • #nationalmentoringmonth #mentoringmatters #mentorshipmatters #neverforgetwhereyoucamefrom #representationmatters #myscientistlookslikeme #thisiswhatascientistlookslike #accessibilitymatters #inclusionmatters #diversitymatters #equitymatters #STEMforkids #womeninSTEM #communityimpact #sciencecommunication #sciencecommunity #STEMfluencer #bethechangeyouwanttosee #diversityequityinclusion

Why Investing in Children’s Education is Investing in the Future. Children often embody purity and potential. Their minds are like sponges, absorbing knowledge, values, and skills that will shape their future and, by extension, the future of our communities and nations. When we invest in their education and personal development, we are not just nurturing individuals but we are also cultivating the leaders, innovators, and change-makers of tomorrow. Every lesson we impart, every opportunity we provide, contributes to building a stronger, more progressive society. Let’s commit to equipping our children with the tools they need to thrive, and in turn, build a brighter future for everyone. #FutureLeaders #ChildEducation #InvestInKids #YouthDevelopment #BuildingTomorrow #EducationalImpact #EmpowerTheFuture #NextGeneration #LeadershipDevelopment #SocietalProgress

Most of us can remember a moment when we met life-changing mentors. For me, that was when I met Yvonne Kong-Ho at 16 years old. I was about to take the national examinations and enter the next stage of my schooling life, unsure about the path ahead of me. Yvonne showed me how to approach uncertainty with curiosity instead of fear and this #mindset has empowered me to handle different challenges in school and beyond. Over the years, we have continued to stay in touch and I was inspired by Yvonne to mentor young women—especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds—to help them see their #potential. I also see this transformative power of #mentorship in the work of our 2020 Yidan Prize for Education Development Laureates, Lucy Lake and Angeline Murimirwa. The Learner Guide program at CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education allows young women to volunteer in their local schools as mentors and role models for girls at risk of dropping out. For vulnerable girls, it’s a lifeline of academic, social, and emotional support. And for the volunteers, it’s a pathway to #leadership. The virtuous cycle of “being mentored” and “becoming a mentor” unlocks immense potential in all of us. At scale, I believe that this cycle has the potential to improve lives and shape a more engaged and equitable society. #YidanPrize #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2024 #InvestInWomen
