#SFNR2024 #INReporters 𝙅𝙀𝙉𝙄/𝙅𝙀𝘿𝙄 𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 (follow up) 👉 Interesting talk by Dr. L’Allinec on the 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗣𝗘 during thrombectomies. Aspiration time, stent in place during a long period of time, placement of the clot in the proximal portion of the stent could be relevant factors. The quick or slow withdrawal of the stent is also another factor questionned. More than 300 thrombectomies in 13 centers have been studied in the ETIS registry. The FPE rate was superior concerning the rate of TICI 3 with the combined technique, but the difference was not significative for TICI2B or TICI 2C. The preliminary results highlighted that the time of aspiration & stent in place showed no difference. The microcatheter withdrawal factor was important in case of combined approached. We are waiting for final results! 💡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝘗𝘳. 𝘑𝘦𝘢𝘯-𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤 Content dedicated for an international audience

During the development of the Safe-Decon Bio Pro units, multiple top-tier institutions across the country were invited to test the system in various applications and environments. The New York Department of Health, Albany Medical Center, and the University of Florida conducted rigorous testing on our units using different types of infectious waste, including COVID-19 and resistant bacterial spores. These studies were conducted independent of our involvement to confirm the integrity of the findings, and each institution used their own methodologies and equipment, introducing variables to the system that tested its robustness. The variety of applications allowed us to gather data on the versatility of the Bio Pro unit and verify the system’s effectiveness with a wide range of environments and users. Across the board, results were promising, with each institution confirming the effectiveness of the Bio Pro System. To learn more, download the published report: https://lnkd.in/eKh5MXpj

Validation and Comparison of Frailty Indexes: An OHDSI Network Study #OHDSISocialShowcase #JoinTheJourney Lead: Chen Yanover Team: Louisa H. Smith, Tal El-Hay, Brianne Olivieri-Mui, PhD, MPH, Maytal Bivas-Benita, Rob Cavanaugh, Pinchas Akiva, Chelsea N Wong, Ariela Orkaby Background: A frailty index (FI) is a marker of overall health status and vulnerability, often used to identify those at increased risk for adverse health outcomes, such as hospitalization, disability, or death. It is typically calculated as a sum (or proportion) of health indicators – or deficits – across diverse health domains including chronic conditions, physical function, cognition, mental health, nutrition, and social participation. FIs vary in the number and type of included deficits, depending on the data source and intended application, with a minimum recommendation of 30 deficits. In this exploratory project, we sought to validate and compare three electronic health record (EHR) FIs and one questionnaire-based FI across multiple healthcare settings and geographies, to understand the degree of frailty variability by FI metrics and geographic cohort. FIs were computed from individuals’ diagnoses, prescriptions, procedures, and devices. We calculated FIs (and the contributing deficits) from five data sources, two from the UA and three from the UK. https://lnkd.in/eCzP9YFR

🤔 RCT, should we complement this approach? Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) compare outcomes between a treatment group and a control group to determine the impact of an intervention. The control group serves as a comparison to mimic what would have happened in the absence of the intervention (the counterfactual). RCTs can compare different versions of the same program or different programs addressing the same issue. They simulate an alternative universe where the intervention doesn't exist to gauge its true effects. 💡 It is always interesting to complement this approach with qualitative methods. ☑ They will allow you to understand the causal chain that got you to the impact, to understand what is causing it and how it is being caused. And moreover, they will give you clues on under which conditions the program worked.
