"AI is coming for my job!" I hear this so often in my line of work. But guess what? AI won't ever replace the creative freelancer. Here's why: AI is amazing at: - Processing data - Making predictions - Analyzing patterns But what about: - Developing an authentic brand? - Crafting a compelling story? - Understanding human emotions? That's where creativity comes in. AI may help make a process more efficient, but it cannot replicate the imagination and creativity of the human mind. So if you're a freelancer who thinks AI is coming for your job, think again. Leverage it to enhance your work, but know your unique creative abilities will forever be valued. 🔍 Who is AI Replacing? The Impact of Generative AI on Online Freelancing Platforms Constant increases in AI’s capabilities raise a crucial question: which human jobs are most at risk of being replaced? This is precisely the focus of a recent study by Demirci, Hannane and Zhu (2025) published in Management Science, which analyzes the short-term impact of #generative #AI (GenAI) on online freelancing platforms. Using a dataset of over 1.3 million job posts from a major freelancing marketplace, the researchers examine how AI tools such as #ChatGPT and #MidJourney affect the demand for different types of #freelance jobs. 📊 Key Findings: #Automation-prone jobs (e.g., writing, software & web development, engineering) saw a 21% decline in job postings within eight months after ChatGPT’s release, compared to manual-intensive jobs. #Creative freelancing jobs weren’t spared either: after the introduction of image-generating AI, the demand for graphic design and 3D modeling dropped by 17%. Interestingly, while demand decreased, the remaining job postings in these categories became more complex and better paid, suggesting that AI is reshaping rather than fully eliminating these professions. 💡 What does this mean for the #future of #work? This research highlights an important shift: rather than replacing entire professions, AI is transforming job requirements. Tasks that involve routine writing, coding, and design are increasingly automated, while higher-value skills—such as critical thinking, complex problem-solving, and AI-assisted work—are becoming more important. The ability to upskill and reskill will be key to staying relevant in this evolving job market. 💬 What are your thoughts on the future of work and AI’s impact on industries? Are you already seeing these trends in your field? How can businesses, policymakers, and workers adapt to this new reality? Share your insights below! 👇

A few months ago, I experimented with **OpenRouter** to leverage a single API that grants access to multiple AI models. The flexibility it offered for quick exploration was too good to resist! While checking out some of the free models, i decided to harness them for an exciting PoC project but instead of doing a direct application, decided to pursue an experiment project of classifying job postings on Upwork. Goal was to go through the Upwork job postings and classify them as something one would be interested in or not. Sort of an automated classification of jobs that a certain freelancer or an agency might be interested in applying to. Here are my **Key Takeaways** from this journey: 1. Cost-Effective Solution: OpenRouter features powerful free AI models like Meta's Llama 3.1 and Microsoft's Phi3, making advanced text classification incredibly accessible. 2. Boost Your Job Search: Implementing an AI-driven job alert system can be a game-changer for freelancers, enhancing application efficiency in a competitive marketplace. If you can quickly search, filter and build a proposal for the job, you have a higher chance of winning the project. 3. Experimentation is Key: Different AI models perform variably based on the tasks at hand. Don’t hesitate to experiment to find your best fit! 4. Optimize with Few-Shot Learning: Amazing results can be achieved even with limited training data using few-shot learning techniques. Talk about efficiency! 5. Precision Matters: Crafting precise prompts and fallback strategies can effectively elevate the reliability of your classification outcomes. 6. Monitor & Optimize: Keeping an eye on API usage is crucial for assessing model performance and managing costs effectively. Have you embarked on a similar journey in your work? #ArtificialIntelligence #JobSearch #Freelancing #TechInnovation #ProfessionalDevelopment #OpenRouter
