"From Campus to Career: Summer Tips for Future Success," includes ways college students at all stages can take advantage of this summer!

The value of student interns in Human Resources is immeasurable! ❤️ Our culture & engagement team partners with NBCC (New Brunswick Community College) Human Respurce program and UNB Saint John MBA Program every year in spring/summer. We intentionally set aside projects that we believe students can complete and benefit from which creates support to our team and great learning for the students. If you decide to have students, here are a few tips that works for us!! 1. Treat them like part of your team! 🙌 Add them to your teams chat, invite them to as many meetings as possible for them to gain exposure. 2. Create space in your calendar 📆 to meet with them and to get to know them at least once a week. (It’s a great way to source potential new hires!!) 3. Provide meaningful and honest feedback so they can grow through their experience. 4. The latest report from Strada Education Foundation and The Burning Glass Institute shines a light on alarming underemployment stats for college graduates 🔦 On average, 45% of college graduates are underemployed within 5 years of graduating 🎓 The chart below shows the rates by area of study. It adds fuel to the fire for rhetoric about the underwhelming ROI of a college degree, including for in-demand majors 😱 There's a secondary access gap in #highered that isn't often talked about. The first is getting into college. The second is learning how to translate your degree into a career, which happens through internships 💼 , mentorship 🤝, and real world coursework 🌎. That's why we're so passionate about about closing the gap and creating pathways to fulfilling employment for every student ↗

🥳 🤝 Our advize partnership with Parker Career Management Center at UCLA Anderson is an exciting and special win! 🏁 Advize started at UCLA Anderson School of Management in a small group of 5 MBA’s in a random entrepreneurship class where I originally had no intention of pursuing an entrepreneurship track again, since I already majored in entrepreneurship at University of Arizona, Eller College of Management. 🤔 When we started kicking around ideas for an assignment, I pitched advize, an idea I had been sitting on for years - originally a network of professionals contracted as independent professionals who students could pay for 1-1 informational interview conversations, or “coffee chats”, to save time and increase access to information about careers. 💡 Out of the many ideas we all suggested, my classmates and I were most excited about Advize, so we went with it! 🙏🏼 As time went on, Advize moved through different classmate teams in various classes as the idea was used for our entrepreneurship capstone - all the while I was working full time at a startup and casing to prepare for a potentially classic and lucrative career in management consulting. 🫣 On a personal front, I was also planning a wedding that was pushed a year from Covid, got married, and still managed to attend business school part time after work, too. This was one of the most stressful yet exciting times of my life, and it was nearly almost too much to handle - but I made it through. 🎉 As the research on advize from class progressed and I flew up to University of California, Davis to bring home a $10,000 prize sponsored by PowerSchool for the top #EdTech award, I realized my desire to be the CEO of Advize and pursue Advize full-time was what I was supposed to do. 🥳 Just a year later, we are partnering with the same business school where Advize began! 💙 Thanks to all the support from the university, my advisors and teachers, the Parker Center, and especially my classmates and our alumni who have contributed over 100 interviews or 1,300 short form interviews to make this possible!! 😊 UCLA Anderson is one of our 5 early partner schools we look forward to piloting with this year, who we are working with hand-in-hand to bring value to students and the universities and will receive tons of feedback to continue improving our product to scale in the coming years. #GetAdvize #CareerExploration #ForStudents #Entrepreneurship #CEO #professionalsevelopment #business #careers #jobs #jobsearch #jobseekers #job #hiring #Linkedin #startup
