Most radiation oncologists and hospital systems are unaware of the significant market potential for using radiotherapy to treat benign musculoskeletal conditions. In the United States alone, there are over 40 million patients suffering from these conditions, many of which could benefit from radiation therapy, which is more than twice the number of potential cancer patients. Repost this info below to help raise awareness 👇

ASTRO ACADEMY WEBINAR - Wednesday, September18, 2024, 2 - 3:30 PM https://lnkd.in/e7BwBDWy Hot Topic : An Overview of the Multidisciplinary Management of Dupuytren's and Ledderhose Diseases byGopal Bajaj, MD, MBA, FASTRO and M. Heinrich Seegenschmiedt, MD, PhD moderated by Bobby N. Koneru, MD, FASTRO Dupuytren's and Ledderhose Diseases are very prevalent hyperproliferative disorders of the hands and feet that affect 3-5% of the population. When progressive, these conditions can result in pain, debility and loss of function. Radiation therapy is commonly utilized in Europe for the treatment of both of these conditions but much less commonly employed in North America. This session will review the pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of Dupuytren's and Ledderhose Diseases and provide an overview of the expanding role of the radiation oncologist in the longitudinal and multidisciplinary management of these patients. The following topics will be addressed: Basic Defintions & Terms; Epidemiology & Etiology (GB) / Pathogenesis & Radiobiology, Clinical Exam & Assessment (MHS) / Classification & Staging; Treatment Options general and with minimal invasive and noninvasive methods (GB) / Role of Radiotherapy using a prophylactic and possibly an adjuvant / post-interventional approach; Clinical studies & results (HS) // The Patient Journey & Multi-Disciplinary Considerations (GB & MHS) plus Case Studies: DD and LD RT Treatments: Too Early / Too Late / Just Right / Adjuvant approach ? Excited to share that on the last day of ASTRO 2024, we will be presenting an AI-driven study in a Special Session: Best of Physics, happening on Wednesday, October 2, at 11:10 a.m., in Room 145. Dr. Taindra Neupane, PhD, former physics postdoc and current physics resident at Jefferson Radiation Oncology, will present our abstract (#349): "Predicting Radiation Pneumonitis with Robust 4DCT-Ventilation and 4DCT-Perfusion Imaging Using Prospective Lung Cancer Clinical Trial Data." This AI-powered study leverages advanced 4DCT imaging techniques and machine learning to predict radiation-induced pneumonitis, using data from a prospective lung cancer clinical trial. For more details, visit the presentation page. https://lnkd.in/eekpEVKz Join us as we explore the future of AI in radiation oncology! #ASTRO2024 #RadiationOncology #AIinHealthcare #MedicalImaging #4DCT #MachineLearning #LungCancerResearch #RadiationPneumonitis #ClinicalTrials #JeffersonHealth #CancerResearch #PhysicsInMedicine #AI

Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT) has gained significant media attention over the past few years due to advances in its precision and effectiveness. SRT and SABR (Stereotactic Ablative Radiation Therapy), a specialised form of SRT, specifically target tumours with high doses of radiation therapy, while limiting the dose to surrounding healthy organs, minimising the risks of side effects (1,2).
