The Texas Heart Institute, #BiVACOR®, CHI St. Luke's Health - Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, and Baylor College of Medicine completed the first successful human #implantation of the BiVACOR Total Artificial Heart (TAH) on July 9, 2024. The procedure, performed at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, showed no complications and excellent performance, and four more patients will be enrolled in this human clinical study.
Heart failure affects over 26 million people globally, and those experiencing #heartfailure have severely limited #transplant options. The BiVACOR® TAH is expected to function as a life-saving bridge-to-transplant treatment for patients with severe #ventricular heart failure. This rotary blood pump, designed with an innovative magnetic rotor that replaces both ventricles of a failing heart, directly addresses a critical need for mechanical circulatory support. Collaborative efforts like these are paving the way towards life-saving changes in cardiac care.

3moMehrdad Ghoreishi That's amazing! What was once a virtual death sentence has become a minor inconvenience. I head about a brain perfusion device a couple of years ago. Would the patient have been able to survive longer if needed assuming they're on the brain perfusion device?
