Hello, People, today I will be sharing some good tips regarding SIMOPS meeting, one of the most important meetings when you are in the offshore field. What is the meaning of SIMOPS ? SIMOPS = Simultaneous operations Once you come onboard, there is a daily meeting that is known as SIMOPS meeting. In this meeting, we shall discuss all the activities that are going to be executed on the next days. SIMOPS (Simultaneou operations) are described as the potencial clash of activities which could bring about an undesired event or ser of circumstances, safety issues, environment conditions, damage to assets, schedule, commercial, financial, etc. SIMOPS may come about as the result of the following issues: - Schedule clashes: Activities in same area at the same time; - Phisical clashes: Anchor patterns, loss of position; - Failure impacts: Explosions, leakages, gas, etc; - Interferences between platform operations and vessel operations; - Contracts and third party interfaces: liabilities, risk/insurance; - Environmental impacts: Currents, icebergs, weather conditions; - Territorial clashes: 500m zone, existing infrastructure; And any other combined/simultaneous activity in the area of operation which could compromise the success of the project. For example, 3 days ago we had a lot of raining onboard on our vessel region, so as Planner Offshore or Project Supervisor, you shall plan in advance all jobs if possible to be done under covered areas to avoid loss of manpower. Anothe example is, hot work and painting work cannot happen at the same time and location. As Planner Offshore, everyday we shall present this meeting in order to verify all these points. “If you do the same thing over and over again, you cannot expect different outcome.” #PlannerOffshore #ProjectManagement #FPSO #OilandGas #MaintenancePlanning Atlas Professionals do Brasil MISC Group MODEC Trident Energy SBM Offshore TechnipFMC Yinson Production Altera&Ocyan Karpowership

So lets talk . It's important to consider working more closely with your subsurface team as a drilling engineer. By enhancing collaboration, you can improve directional well planning and achieve cost savings. Some benefits of working closely with both teams include: - Developing cost-effective trajectories fit for the specific purpose - Optimizing well positioning through collaborative well planning - Conducting drillability analysis using well-engineering models - Receiving support for top-hole anti-collision planning and slot assignment - Ensuring the correct selection of directional drilling tools and services By maintaining strong communication and collaboration between the subsurface and drilling engineering teams, you can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of well planning.

Published 2 days ago on BSEE panel investigation site. Investigation of March 25, 2022, Hydraulic Workover Unit Failure Fatality Lease OCS-G04909 Sanare energy partners LLC out of Houston, and SBS Energy Services Probable Causes • The 20-inch structural casing could not sustain the forces applied. • Sanare did not ensure the structural integrity of the system upon which the HWU was placed. Contributing Causes • Sanare failed to consider all safety ramifications when choosing equipment for the operation. • The master service agreement (MSA) between Sanare and SBS lacked details regarding the performance of duty expectations of both the operator and the contractor. Contributing Factors • High winds and sea conditions over time may have exacerbated the mechanical failure of the structural casing by causing stresses to the structural casing while supporting the HWU. • The guy lines above the Anchor Spool were not completely installed at the time of the incident, so the Anchor Spool could not fully stabilize the HWU. #workover #iogp #bsee #offshoreoilandgas #gulfofmexico #drillingcontractor #oilandgascompanies #iadc #oilandgas

Electric and digital-ready completions will support Petrobras’ move toward production system electrification. SLB has been awarded three contracts by Petrobras for completion hardware and services for up to 35 subsea wells in the development of Petrobras’ offshore Buzios Wave II oilfield. The scope of the contract includes SLB’s full bore electric interval control valves and electric subsurface safety valves. The award is a catalyst toward full production system electrification for Petrobras, improving production availability via more reliable completions. By converting to electric completions, Petrobras will gain the ability to reliably control a more sophisticated system in the subsurface. Full electrification of completions enables maximum production control across multiple reservoir drains, potentially requiring fewer wells and limiting heavy workovers during the productive life of the Buzios field wells. Much of the technology to be deployed in Buzios and available for o

✨ I'd like to share an experience from a project I worked on several years ago. The project involved a refinery unit with several storage tanks. One particular tank, after receiving internal and external coatings (where I was directly involved), exhibited an unexpected issue during pre-commissioning activities. Early the next morning, we observed from a distance that the tank shell had begun to deform. Popping sounds were even audible from several meters away. In addition, the tank was empty at the time, and the incident occurred during the summer months, so the ambient temperature was elevated. This tank was then repaired, and the entire affected surface was replaced with new plates. ❓What are the possible causes of this tank shell deformation? Any comments and knowledge sharing on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
