🌟 Workplace Culture 🌟 Hello again! This week, instead of discussing my upcoming courses, I thought I'd delve into something equally important – the work culture at Danske Bank. Workplace culture is crucial in any setting, but especially so in our workplace. I've taken some time to reflect on what makes our environment unique and supportive. Here’s what stands out for me: 🥅 Clear Values and Goals: It's essential to have well-defined values and goals. These provide a sense of direction and comfort, affirming that you're in the right place. 🎙️ Open Communication: Promoting open communication ensures that everyone feels heard and valued. 🏅 Employee Recognition: We continually recognize and reward our team's hard work. This not only boosts morale but also fosters loyalty and a drive for excellence. 📖 Professional Development & Team Collaboration: These are areas I often discuss (check out my previous posts!). They are vital for personal growth and building strong team bonds. Having experienced various workplace cultures, I can truly say that a nurturing work environment is fundamental to professional happiness and fulfillment. ❤️ Also, I’d like to introduce you to my home office colleagues, Luna & Terra 🐶 who protects me, as I work, also helping to draw your attention to this post 😃 #WorkplaceCulture #BusinessTransformation #DanskeBank #DanskeBankFCRP

𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞? 🍽️ Working at a large company comes with its quirks, and here’s one that always gets my friends laughing: my lunch calendar! Scheduling #lunch with colleagues sometimes means planning weeks, or even months, in advance! 🗓️ One of the coolest aspects of our company #culture at Deutsche Bank, in my opinion, is this lunch tradition. You can reach out to colleagues you don’t know or haven’t met yet, simply because you find their job interesting. It’s a fantastic way to learn about different projects, #connect with new faces, and foster a sense of #community. It's funny how something you consider ordinary – planning lunches far ahead – can be intriguing to others. So, who’s up for a lunch date? 🗓️ #BigCompanyLife #BusySchedules #LunchCulture #WorthTheWait Deutsche Bank Unternehmensbank Deutsche Bank Private Bank Deutsche Bank Corporate Bank

Continuing my Pride Month series on navigating corporate environments, here's a story from a global bank with over 100k employees—a company known for its close-knit culture years ago. #2: The New Girl It was a regular Friday as John prepared for a well-deserved long leave. Colleagues bid him farewell warmly, moved by his parting words: "I'll be a completely different person when I come back." Little did they know, those words held deeper meaning. Months later, on a quiet morning, a new face appeared at John's desk. Paul, the department head, passing by, noticed her and was surprised to see her there. He asked her name, and she introduced herself as Violet. Meanwhile, other colleagues passing by also noticed and began talking among themselves, curious about the new person in John's place. Shortly after their introduction, Violet approached Paul and asked if they could have a private conversation. Surprised but willing to hear her out, Paul agreed and followed her to a meeting room. Without Paul's knowledge, Patricia, the HR partner who had been invited by John and was aware of the meeting room booking, followed them and joined them in the meeting. Patricia greeted Violet warmly, asking about John and expressing curiosity about the agenda he had planned. During the meeting, Violet revealed her transition from John, explaining her journey to be true to herself. Paul and Patricia, faced with a new and unfamiliar situation, approached it with a commitment to respect and understanding. They navigated the conversation with care, ensuring Violet felt supported and valued. Despite the support from her boss and HR partner, Violet faced challenges in navigating a highly traditional environment. The initial surprise and subsequent understanding paved the way for ongoing conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion within the company. Though the names are fictional, this real-life story reflects the ongoing journey towards diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Adaptation and education for all parties took time, driving the company towards its current DEI best practices. It wasn't a quick win but rather a testament to the company's dedication to fostering an inclusive environment. Personal Opinion: Violet's courage and the team's response highlight the importance of empathy and openness in embracing diversity. Such experiences are pivotal in shaping inclusive workplace cultures. How would you handle a similar situation in your workplace? Let's discuss! 🌈 #PrideMonth #DiversityandInclusion

🌟 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 🌟 Aligning personal values with our workplace is essential. The core values of Morgan Stanley guide my professional journey: 1️⃣ 𝗗𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: "𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆" — something we all must have heard in our childhood. The firm trusts you, and we should extend that trust to others. Integrity builds meaningful relationships and makes you a better person. 2️⃣ 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁: Clients are the heart of everything we do. We are here because of the clients. Prioritizing their needs ensures long-term success and solid partnerships. 3️⃣ 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀: Having the courage to share ideas and articulate them clearly can lead to incredible opportunities and growth. Innovation begins with speaking up. 4️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: A diverse team is a stronger team. Having people from different backgrounds helps you gain varied perspectives, increasing your horizon. 5️⃣ 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 (𝗠𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲): Success is measured by how much you help others. The more we help others and make someone’s life easier, the more we’ll find similar support in the future. Sharing knowledge and giving back is key to making a positive impact. Working at a place that aligns with your values helps building a meaningful career. #Professional #Values #MorganStanley #GiveBack #Integrity #ClientFirst #Diversity #Inclusion #Workplace #Culture #CareerDevelopment #Innovation

I don't think we’ve spoken to a single client (and potential client) this week who doesn't care about their people. You already know... ✅ Your company values are crucial for a positive work culture. ✅ Investing in the well-being of your people is what creates successful businesses. ✅ How important it is to have all your people processes (including career progression, documentation, L&D, and legal admin) in place. And you appreciate it’s an ongoing process you’ve already started, you just need someone to help you continue to elevate and execute it. Someone who has the time, knowledge & experience to support you in making the best decisions for your people AND implement those strategies on your behalf. HR Star wasn’t created 10 years ago (how time flies) to work with founders who don't get the very obvious truth above. And if you don't care about your people enough to know they matter, quite frankly, you shouldn't be running a business. (Picture: yes that is Ryan and George in matching green... we won't lie, some of us were gutted to have missed the memo. 😭 )

Cultivating a Positive Internal Culture 🌱🤝 Welcome back to Week 3 of our Tuesday Series! This week shines a light on a commonly overlooked component when striving to avoid business failures: Internal Culture. In challenging times, the right culture and atmosphere are indispensable. Staff motivation is key to fostering a positive outlook and achieving success. Without it, engaging effectively with customers and suppliers becomes a challenge. We previously spoke with Seamus Carney, a Senior Manager at Ulster Bank. He noted that the lack of confidence in delegation can result in the principal trying to do everything including getting involved in relatively unimportant aspects of the business which can result in them “neglecting the business essentials.” 🔍 James P McIvor a Managing Partner at The Thinking Lab, emphasises the importance of an engaged, connected, and committed workforce for success in the 21st Century. 🪞Awareness and personal insight play a significant role in building cohesion and organisational strength, steering the business towards its goals of success and growth. James P McIvor believes that next to sales and profitability, the need to retain and develop talent and mould it into a formidable, effective team is imperative for every company, developing a talented team and retaining it is crucial for any company. In today's globalised market economy, it's the committed and self-aware individuals who realise their potential, making a real difference. Stay tuned for next week’s insight on how to avoid business failures, or reach out to our team at info@cooneycarey.ie for advice on strengthening your business foundations 👥 #cooneycarey #InternalCulture #BusinessSuccess
