𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐒𝐀- 𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐈𝐓 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 This presentation was carried out on the MAP's programme by Future Forward Farmers Hub 🧩Agriculture has been in place for a long time in Nigeria and can be dated back to pre-colonial time. 🧩We usually back then engaged in subsistence agriculture to feed the immediate family. With emphasis on crude implements like hoes and cutlass and the use of family for labour. 🧩The size of the family then determined the quality of farm work carried out, and most men married more than one wives and had numerous children to meet these needs. 🧩To expand into commercial farming properly in order to meet financial obligations and supplies to the growing populace, a change was needed, but a change that could be sustainable was better implemented in response to the climbing climate crisis. 𝙏𝙤 𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝘾𝙎𝘼 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙙. 🧩Put concisely, CSA encourages proper use and management of lands by the farmers, for profit, without harming the environment. 🧩Now, after careful deliberation and to be on par with the world in climate smart practices, the Government of Nigeria has adopted 4 ways to carry out CSA in the country as shown in the slides. 🧩Recently, to buttress this point, we heard news on Mr. President bringing in a crop variant that is Genetically modified to fill this need. 🧩We hope local businesses, spearheaded by youths, of which we here are part of, can adopt these practices; given its usefulness, to revolutionise how agriculture is done in Nigeria! . . In case you’re seeing my post for the first time, I am Barovwe Daniella Omoweh, a serial volunteer with a NEED to foster sustainable resource management, environmental and human health by pioneering SDGs 1, 2, 3 and 13: 𝗡𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 #sdgs #CSA #agriculture #Nigerianyouths #UN
