Love my job and love the work One Tail at a Time does to support Chicago pets and pet parents. So glad Figo Pet Insurance could support them by donating 43K pounds of pet food to One Tail's Pet Mutual Aid Center, which provides resources to pet parents in need. The behind-the-scenes work it took to make this donation happen was one of the more interesting exercises in problem-solving I've encountered in my career so far, and involved tackling questions like: - "How does one move 43K pounds of food from one place to another?" (Answer: A big truck!) - "Can you fit a semi-truck in a standard Chicago alley?" (Answer: No! So then, we'll need several slightly smaller trucks...) - "How quickly can One Tail assemble volunteers to move this much pet food?" (Answer: Extremely quickly!) - "What do you do when Costco doesn't accept your corporate card because (duh) Costco warehouses don't take AmEx?" (Answer: Get creative!) All made totally worth it (and honestly a ton of fun) by collaborating with great partners and team members. Shout out to our friends at Costco Wholesale for helping to make this donation possible.
Last month, we partnered with One Tail at a Time and Costco Wholesale to organize a pet food drive. Our goal was straightforward yet ambitious: gather as many pet food donations as possible and match each one, pound for pound. Thanks to the generosity of our community and the support of our partners, we managed to collect and deliver over 43,000 pounds of pet food to OTAT! A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved – your contributions, big and small, made a world of difference. We're excited for future opportunities to make a positive difference for pets and pet parents in our communities 💙

Charities always appreciate when Will-makers leave a gift in their Will to them. However, the only way a charity can receive anything from a Will-maker’s Estate is if they clearly identify/name the charity in their Will. If the deceased dies without a Will, under the rules of intestacy, a charity cannot receive a cent from the deceased’s Estate. Imagine being asked to choose between your best friend, and a bed for the night. Imagine having to refuse medical care because there is no one to care for your pet. Imagine having no fixed abode so no registered vet, and your animal is sick and needs care. Street paws works to help maintain the bond between humans and their pets by working to ensure being homeless does not mean leaving your pet behind in order to get ahead in life. On this, International Homeless Animal Day, can you help us to keep doing our work? A one off payment could mean we can offer vet treatment for a sick animal. A regular payment could help our Dog Champion’s Scheme, supporting accommodation for homeless people to become pet friendly so people do not need to choose between a dog for the night, and their pets. 2 months ago, our mission took on a new dimension – supporting animal welfare. We partnered with Animalibre, an organization dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals in need. The stories of countless dogs, cats, and other creatures suffering on the streets moved us. Witnessing the transformation of these animals – overcoming fear and regaining health – is inspiring. We couldn't walk away from the opportunity to make a difference. Virtue Health helps Animalibre with donations and raising awareness for their work. However, our furry friends still face challenges. Animalibre currently cares for 100 animals, and they desperately need a larger space to thrive.
