Earlier this month, our K12 project team celebrated the grand opening of Morris Adler Elementary School in Southfield, Michigan! Over the summer, the team put the finishing touches on a year-long renovation that included new carpeting, HVAC units, and more. We were excited to have Barton Malow Intern Franny Winkler join the project team this summer and assist in planning the grand opening ceremony. Reflecting on the event, Franny shared, “As I watched the students and staff members’ eyes widen upon their initial entry, I recognized the impact Barton Malow made on not only current Southfield Public School students but also the community.” We're thankful to provide our interns with a unique opportunity to learn and grow within the construction industry! "We shouldn't have to do that" Recently I was talking to someone in the industry and that was their sentiment surrounding extended & enhanced onboarding for new summer interns. We had just discussed how our Workforce Development team gets a full week to get our new summer interns (current college students studying something construction or engineering related) and how appreciative we are that our Execs & Operations Team fully support this investment. Should we HAVE to do this? To me that is irrelevant - we have data and anecdotal evidence showing that we NEED to do this. Our commitment to "Investing In People" compels us to take the time necessary to set these young folks (most of whom are new to the industry) up for success & for "Winning In The Field" Reminds us of the quote from Henry Ford: "The only thing worse than training your employees and having them leave is not training them and having them stay." It's good for the interns, Sargent, our industry, and our region(s). And it's a really fun week for Kevin Gordon & me! 😃 pictured: Meredith Brewer, Sargent Foreman and the architect of our internship program giving the new New England interns a peptalk! 📸 Kevin

Husband, Father, Son, Friend, Coach and Fractional Chief Revenue Officer | Breaking Sales Barriers and Scaling Businesses from 1M to 100M
The first week of summer vacation for my kids is here. We're gearing up for summer camps and activities. This time of year takes me back to my college internship, where I ran sports camps for the local YMCA. We started and ended each day by reviewing the core values: Caring Respect Honesty Responsibility. We would talk about these as we opened the day, and at the end of the day, we would ask if anyone saw any of the campers displaying these behaviors. Those who did were rewarded with a little prize and a round of applause. If organizations reward and recognize core values, they will continue to permeate through the organization. Think about what behaviors are being rewarded and emulated and which ones you want to be magnified.

Big things are happening in the Jones College Supply Chain Management program! Congratulations to Dr. Richard Tarpey, new Director of the Center for Supply Chain Management and Sustainability! #supplychain #sustainability #supplychainmanagement
I am excited to be named the first Director of Middle Tennessee State University's Center for Supply Chain Management and Sustainability. We are working on two exciting programs for the Fall of 2025. · Synergy-Experience: providing students with real-world experience through internships and an innovative program where students work toward specific curriculum objectives in partnership with a project/work experience at a company. · Synergy-CollabLab: students collaborate with industry partners to solve real problems. This program brings students and industry partners together to analyze and solve challenges to find applicable and implementable solutions.
