💜 It's day 5 of Learning Disability Week💜 "Do you include me?" Including someone with a learning disability means more than just physical presence. It's about genuine engagement, respect, and understanding. Here are some key points to think about: 💜 Ensure that your language is clear and accessible. Be patient and listen actively. 💜 Treat everyone with dignity and respect. 💜 Recognise everyone’s unique strengths and contributions. 💜 Make environments accessible and supportive. This includes providing the necessary resources and adjustments. 💜 Encourage participation in activities and decision-making processes. 💜 Educate yourself and others about learning disabilities to break down misconceptions and barriers. By considering these points, we can create a more inclusive and supportive community for everyone. #LearningDisabilityWeek #DoYouSeeMe #EdenTogether #Wellbeing #Mencap #SpreadAwareness #SupportAndCelebrate

💡 Learning Disability Awareness Week 💡 This week, we’re raising awareness and understanding of learning disabilities, focusing on how we can support individuals to live fulfilling lives. Did You Know? 💡 -In the UK, approximately 1.5 million people have a learning disability. -People with learning disabilities are more likely to experience health issues and may find it harder to access healthcare. -Learning disabilities are different from learning difficulties; learning disabilities include diagnosis like down syndrome and fragile x syndrome, while learning difficulties include diagnosis such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia. By understanding these differences, we can better support individuals with learning disabilities, ensuring they receive the care and opportunities they need. Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments. How can we improve support for those with learning disabilities? #LearningDisabilityAwarenessWeek #Inclusion #Support

We are taking one step at a time towards ensuring inclusive learning. SDG4's goal is to "ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all". How can this be if there is no inclusivity for neurodivergent individuals; or people who have either or both physical and cognitive learning difficulties? Giving the bare minimum in the name of inclusive learning is not acceptable. It must be a combined effort to ensure that everyone is given the best opportunity to learn.
We are happy to announce that we have been accredited as a CPD provider by The CPD Group This is another step towards making learning inclusive for individuals with learning disabilities. The goal is to ensure that everyone is happy to learn without feeling left behind. #neurodivergent #learningdisabilities #inclusivelearning

Did you know that this week is Learning Disability Week ❓️ It is a week where people show what life is like if you have a learning disability. This year the theme is “Do you see me?” “Do you see me?” is about people with a learning disability being seen, heard and valued. Being valued means that people are respected by others, and their views and feelings are listened to. We want Learning Disability Week to be about: ✅️Celebrating the things that people with a learning disability do. ✅️Challenging the barriers that people with a learning disability face. Here at The Robin Centre we try to remove as many barriers as we can that stops an adult from doing something. The person is the focus of everything we do, as well as everything we intend to do at our day centre. Our purpose is to change people’s lives by empowering them with the skills they need to live as fulfilling a life as they possibly can. We do this by providing a safe, supportive, fun and friendly day centre environment to learn new skills which will change their lives. Our philosophy is that members will learn much more if they take more enjoyment from their learning. Our team work hard to compile and develop fun and educational activities which allows them to develop these vital skills without knowing that the activity was skill based. We’ve found this approach to be very successful and prevents the member from viewing The Robin Centre as a school or a place of work. Instead, they view the centre as a safe, fun and friendly place to be. Let's tell everybody about Learning Disability Week 2024! #learningdisabilityweek #learningdisabilities #removingbarriers #creatingawareness #robincentre
