Is #empathy a buzzword in the corporate environments you connect with? Then, #vulnerability should also be! Empathy is a must when it comes to understand and truly connect to people, whether the ones we serve as a company or inside the company among team members. This TED Talk by Brene Brown is among the Top 5 most watched, in which she brings Vulnerability as the very enabler of empathetic connections. It leaves us with the challenge to allow ourselves to show vulnerability and let other´s comfortable to show it. But then, how to embrace vulnerability in environments where one is encouraged and (only) rewarded if flawless? The way Brene Brawn tells us about her own flaws might give us a hint. She is open and honest about her own “flaws “and even makes fun of herself. Turns out we can relate, empathize, validate, and get even more interested on the development of her speech. By showing her humanity she leaves room for us to relate and connect. But she also shows us how dealing with vulnerability led her to be there, delivering a brilliant speech. The key message it left for me is embrace humanity! Remember in our path to deliver marveling results we will also fail, and that is just part of learning to excel. What about you?
