We in Challenge to Change support women to change their lives, be the best version of themselves and contribute to a better society, by giving them vital life and work skills; employability and entrepreneurship skills; and tools to overcome challenges from within.
We have seen that with our support, women can change their lives, break the marginalisation cycles, and seize opportunities to build better futures for themselves and their families.

Very interesting discussion with Conor Fitzgerald yesterday about this data - none of which is revelatory - but where do we go from here in #artsandculture?
It's easy to write off the success of hospitals and universities as being more "naturally" the recipients of #charity.
Respectfully, I disagree.
Our hospitals and universities work at this, and they work at this hard.
As an active member of Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) I'm in the room to see not just how the sausage gets made, but how certain organizations have been very successful at raising #donations via various funding models.
...and guess what? They're not all hospitals and universities. The National Ballet of Canada, Royal Ontario Museum are both organizations that have taken the ball of #plannedgiving and ran with it (shout-out to Richard J. Lefebvre, CFRE and Janice L. Correa respectively).
Not every arts org has the resources or staff of a National Ballet or ROM, of course, but how can we learn from our successful peers in a scalable way? Here's a few thoughts I have that can be implemented by any arts org:
1. Have you educated your donors on #taxefficient ways of giving? Let's assume you don't have the resources to set up security donations directly, do your donors know they can use an intermediary like CanadaHelps?
2. Are you engaging not just the donor, but the donor's *advisors* when discussing transformational gifts? They may also be key centres of influence for future donors. (psst, as one of those people, yes, I do want to be welcomed to the table)
3. Have you ever had the talk of a #legacygift with a donor? Not for the "big cheque" years from now... but are you aware the data shows legacy donors are MORE likely to increase their yearly giving?
...and most importantly, are your leadership and board aware of this?
Hospitals and universities are not our enemies, but their successes in these areas can be our models in the #arts to have better, stronger, and more supportive donor relations.

In Canada, women hold more than three-quarters of the charity sector jobs; are more likely to have made at least one financial donation to a charity (86% of women); and makeup about 43% of the membership of non-profit volunteer boards.
Today we celebrate all women who strive to make a difference in their communities and across Canada.

Causes require solutions, not band aids. 🩹
I spent 5 years of my life in Cambodia. In 2013, I was struck by the fact that, despite one in 25 people needing it, there was not one single Cambodian speech therapist in country.
But recognising a problem requires an appropriate solution. And well-meaning foreigners had been flying in and out of Cambodia for decades, either training local people or providing services.
We needed to build Cambodia's solution to the problem. And that's why we created OIC Cambodia, a charity with a clear exit strategy to shut down in 2030. This meant the charity focused more on the solution than perpetuating itself or our own egos.
Meanwhile, I handed off leadership to a Cambodian led team in 2017 and moved back to Australia. Because it's not up to us - well meaning foreigners - to tell Cambodian people how to solve their own problems.
I've since written about this model in my book Redundant Charities.
But there are still 7 more years for this charity to complete its work for the over half a million people who need speech therapy in Cambodia.
That's why we need you to join us on our journey to fund the development of speech therapy in Cambodia. It's a journey that transforms lives. 🪄

🍁📊 NFP Research — a leading UK-based market research agency in the not-for-profit sector — has shared its findings on some of the key differences between Canadian donors vs. their British counterparts.
Some of the key takeaways include:
💰 Fewer Canadians donate, however, their donations tend be be larger than UK donors.
💰 Canadians tend to develop deeper relationships with the charities they support.
💰 Canadians have a brighter outlook when it comes to the future, and expect to donate more in the coming year.
NFP Research explains that this research can help charities “adapt their fundraising strategies to meet the preferences of their nation’s public.”
