Having any of these challenges with your car? It's an indication that your car engine is very weak and needs overhauling or replacement: 1. *Reduced Power*: The engine struggles to accelerate or climb hills. 2. *Decreased Fuel Efficiency*: The engine consumes more fuel than usual. 3. *Rough Idling*: The engine shakes or vibrates when idling. 4. *Misfiring*: The engine misfires or stalls frequently. 5. *Difficulty Starting*: The engine takes multiple attempts to start. 6. *Strange Noises*: Unusual sounds like knocking, clunking, or grinding come from the engine. 7. *Oil Leaks*: Oil spots under the car indicate engine leaks. 8. *Overheating*: The engine temperature gauge rises higher than normal. 9. *Slow Performance*: The engine takes longer than usual to reach its maximum power. If you notice any of these signs, it's essential to have your engine checked and maintained by JN EXPERT MECHANICAL ENGINEERING to prevent further damage. Call us now 0542872898/0241933816

Most manufacturers are entirely uninterested in rectifying common faults on their vehicles. They often require you to replace and entire mechanism (i.e. a complete intake manifold, handbrake, tailgate) to repair a simple fault. That's where we come in! We take a look at common faults and create solutions that the everyday person can fit with minimal tools and mechanical knowledge/experience.

🔧 Understanding Blowby in Engines: Why It Matters 🔧 For those in the automotive and mechanical engineering fields, "blowby" is a term you're likely familiar with. But what exactly is blowby, and why should you care? Blowby occurs when combustion gases escape past the piston rings and enter the crankcase of an engine. This can lead to several issues: 🚗 Reduced Engine Efficiency: The escaping gases can reduce the efficiency of the engine, leading to increased fuel consumption. 🛠️ Increased Wear and Tear: Contaminants from blowby can mix with engine oil, leading to increased wear on engine components. 🌱 Environmental Impact: Blowby gases contribute to emissions, impacting air quality and environmental health. Prevention and Management: Regular Maintenance: Ensure regular engine checks and maintenance to detect and address blowby early. Quality Parts: Use high-quality piston rings and maintain proper engine assembly techniques. Oil Monitoring: Regularly check and change engine oil to prevent contamination from blowby gases. #AutomotiveEngineering #EngineMaintenance #MechanicalEngineering #Efficiency #Sustainability #Blowby

Braking Resistor Sizing Criteria: 1-The resistance of the braking resistor must be equal to or greater than the minimum allowable resistance, Rmin, as specified in the VFD supplier’s technical specifications or user manual. 2-The resistor’s resistance must also be below a certain maximum value. While exceeding this maximum value does not risk damage, it will reduce braking power. This maximum resistance can be calculated using the following formula: Rmax = Udc^2 / VFD max power = Udc^2/ (Overload Value* VFD rated power) 3-The braking resistor's power rating must be appropriate for the connected load. Although this criterion is not related to resistance, it is crucial for ensuring proper operation. The power rating should be selected based on the load and its cycling conditions. Typically, this requires calculating the average braking power or using values provided for typical load cycles in product catalogs. For further details, please refer to the Allen-Bradley Engineering Handbook - Drive Application Engineering and the Schneider ATV user manual.

Taking an early trip into the workshops this morning and we first spotted Jon working on a traction motor by BAE Systems but there’s quite a bit more happening. A palette load of fixed Servo Motors being navigated through the workshop, heading to be secured for despatch. A 250kW motor is going through VPI (vacuum pressure impregnation) we’ve mentioned before this is a really important part of the motor rewinding & repair process, helping to improve power output, increase contamination resistance and reduce coil vibration. Fletcher Moorland are renowned as Electrical & Electro-Mechanical Engineers. A family business we’ve been in operation since 1946. You may even have seen our recent posts on our fully restored Moggy Van paying homage to our first company vehicles. We’re rich in history and have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to supporting businesses with maintenance on their electrical, mechanical and automation equipment.
