Here are some highlights: 🔺 We are currently in a crisis when it's comes to Home care, people are seeking alternatives and there are not a lot alternatives for them. 🔺 The people who are most affected by the current system of care have no voice- the Care receivers (Clients) and the Workers (Those providing the care) 🔺 PSWs are the largest demographic in the healthcare sector, yet they have the smallest voice. 🔺 The cooperative model is about bringing voice not only to the care-workers but also to the care-receivers. Many of the team here have families and we are all well aware of the complications that can sometimes arise with children and the urgent medical attention they require, even more so when it's life changing or critical care is needed. To kickstart our pledge we are going to do something extra special this Christmas to bring some love and smiles to these children and families who cannot spend the festive period at home. Our efforts and focus over the next few weeks is to raise £3000 to buy presents for the two hospices to ensure a little joy is spread. Colorado Gives Day is almost here! This statewide day of giving across Colorado is a wonderful way to support local non-profits, like Aging Resources! A donation of $50 to Aging Resources helps provide an older adult with wrap-around support for an entire month. Wrap-around help includes weekly meal delivery (3 tailored meals, breakfast, and fruit), access to ARDC help-in-the-home services, reassurance calls, and an in-person emotional support check. These wrap-around services help older adults age independently and in their own homes... something most of us want to do! I wonder how many of you reading this can really answer the questions: 'What is Hospice Care?' and 'How do Hospice Isle of Man make the difference to those who need their services?' (And whilst we're on that subject... 'Who can use the services offered by Hospice Isle of Man?') This article is a great intro to the world of hospice care and the struggles faced by Hospice Isle of Man, along with many other charities across the Island, when looking at sustainability for the future. Educating yourself about the positive impact Hospice Isle of Man has on the Island's community (and perhaps challenging some of your initial thoughts!) is so important for your (and your loved one's) future. I can hand on heart say I had only scratched the surface with my understanding of its purpose but feel so much more comfortable should a loved one need their services in the future (and will be well equipped to advise on how to make the most of what is available!). Get yourself a brew and have a read... you've a lot more to gain than lose 💗
