National Clinical Nurse Specialist Week (CNS Week) is September 1-7. CNS week is an annual event that acknowledges the contributions of the nearly 90,000 Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) in North America. CNSs are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) who earned master’s, doctorate, or post graduate degrees/certifications and hold accredited certification in a specialty. At Bayhealth, our CNS team is made up of nurses who specialize in gerontology, stroke, cardiac and congestive heart failure, pulmonary acute care, infection prevention, and pediatric and neonatal care. Working directly with the entire care team, the CNSs provide consultation and expertise based on evidence-based practice and research. They determine best practices to model and implement positive changes within nursing to optimize nursing practice and improve patient outcomes. Help us celebrate the commitment our CNS team show to our community each day by writing a positive comment below.

Bayhealth Foundation proudly honored Mary Ann Chorman with a plaque dedication at the Bayhealth Sussex Campus, commemorating her extraordinary 39-year career as a nurse at Milford Memorial Hospital. The plaque, now prominently displayed on the 5th floor of the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus, celebrates her dedication and compassionate care for the community. Chorman’s distinguished service has touched countless lives, embodying the values of excellence and empathy in nursing. Her commitment to patient care and the well-being of her colleagues has left a lasting impact on the healthcare community. “Mary Ann and I met shortly after I arrived at Bayhealth more than 20 years ago, when we were both working at Milford Memorial Hospital. It was immediately evident that Mrs. Chorman was an outstanding caregiver and a leader among our nursing team members. Everyone will tell you that she always put the best interest of our patients first and that she could always be counted on to know and follow the appropriate protocol to ensure that goal,” said Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy, FACHE. “Mary Ann has my personal admiration and thanks for the many years that she dedicated to first rate patient care at Bayhealth. I wish her all the best as she continues to enjoy her retirement.” Chorman was presented with the plaque during the ceremony, surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues. The plaque dedication ensures that her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of healthcare professionals.
