The ability to persist on a given path regardless of setbacks, unexpected events, bad news, and resistance — to continue steadfastly or firmly in some state, purpose, or course of action in spite of conditions — is a trait common to those who make it. Construction project’s have many setbacks so this quality is necessary to reach world class. I assure you that I, at least, am more persistent than I am talented. This isn’t a trait that people do or do not have; it’s something that can—and must—be developed. Ps. At Riley Contracting Group, Inc. we just had our quarterly State of the Company with our #team. During this #stateofthecompany I shared where we are, where we've been and where we are going. This sounds pretty simple... Simple doesn't mean easy though. Taking the time with my leadership team to figure out all of this prior to sharing it is really the key, the leadership team and their buy in and contributions are what makes the plan actionable! Without a leadership team my company would not be where it is today! They consistently use phrases like “We can do it,” “Let’s make it happen,” “Let’s work it out” — and they always maintain that a solution exists.
