"Today is the first #InternationalDayOfPlay to champion and protect the rights of children to play. Supporting children to play is very important to me: both in my role at BBC Children in Need and as Chair of Play Scotland, Scotland’s National Play Agency." Today we get to celebrate the inaugural International Day of Play! 🤸 The United Nations General Assembly got together and made the 11th of June the International Day of Play - because they believe (and so do we) that every child can reach their full potential, with the time, space and access to play. 97% of children believe play is important yet one in three do not have the time to play. To change this, children are asking adults and decision-makers to: • Invest in children’s well-being by protecting their right to play. • Provide children with more time and opportunities to play, including in school. • Protect their right to play by creating safe and accessible places to play, including for those with special needs. • Respect their rights to be heard in decisions impacting their right to play. • Support them in developing social skills through play. For the first-ever International Day of Play we wanted to say thank you to all our customers and clients who help to provide safe play areas for Children. Children have a right to play under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989, yet around 70% of adults aren’t aware of this right. Help celebrate #dayofplay and raise awareness for safe play anywhere in the world. Play is crucial for children's learning, well-being, and development. Through play children practice roles and build skills such as concentration, learning, memory, and language. https://lnkd.in/e2K7Kbt2.

Twice a father, LEGO® Play Agent, technology enthusiast, amateur drone pilot, marathoner and bike lover
Calling all kids, families, and adults! It's time to use your superpower of Play to unleash your inner builder and join the Play revolution! On June 11th, grab your LEGO® bricks and get ready to create something amazing together. A DAY FOR PLAY: The United Nations recently recognized the importance of Play by establishing an official International Day of Play. The International Day of Play will be June 11th, with the inaugural celebration in 2024, and it will champion and protect children’s right to play. Play is never just play: UNICEF estimates that 160 million children around the world are working instead of playing or learning. Play can help children to find their way back to hope, health and happiness. Because play is never just play. Play is powerful. The power of play unlocks potential, instils confidence, saves lives, heals, and creates a world of possibilities. Let's take children's right to play a step further by joining a global movement that elevates the importance of play as central to children's learning and well-being. Adopted by the United Nations earlier this year to preserve, promote, and prioritize play, #InternationalDayofPlay recognizes that play is essential for kids' development. However, the cruel reality is that not every kid has access to a place to play. Your support helps build playspaces in areas where the need is greatest. 📣 "Recognizing the importance of play for children’s development, The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child sets out “the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities”. In March 2024, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution establishing 11 June as the International Day of Play to champion and protect this right." 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 https://lnkd.in/evneHXe2. 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 📣 Yesterday, June 11, 2024, was the first time the International Day of Play was celebrated, but I would like to remind you how gamification dynamics transcend not only ages but also sectors and interests. As a teacher and trainer of other teachers from my role in innovation for higher education, I have observed how serious games and simulators used in learning dynamics reveal cognitive processes such as Piaget's accommodation, Kolb's experiential learning, social learning (vicariate) of Behaviorist roots (Pavlov, Skinner) presented by Bandura or even the same reciprocal triadic causality of Bandura himself. In other words, understanding how we learn makes it possible to situate more precisely the benefits of gamification for teaching, dissemination, training or co-construction of knowledge. Here, the question is, if the game as a pedagogical method should be relegated - by more conservative views - to the space of pleasure... or: observing its cognitive potential, it can be a strategic and powerful tool. 🎮 🎮 🎮 Celebrating with the dream team: let's play Luis Antonio Vaca Hinojosa, JAIME G.
