BBC StoryWorks welcomed four talented students to join us for a summer placement. Zainab Rasak, Zalva Djayapertapa, Philip Wong and Alilya Narikbayeva worked across our Series Development, Production, Editorial and Marketing teams over 2 months and quickly became valued members of our team! ⭐ 🏋️♀️ We asked them to share what they loved most about their internships and what surprised them about working at BBC StoryWorks - scroll down to read more. Zainab, Marketing Intern 🧑💻   ❤️ What I enjoyed the most about this internship was the variety of projects I was able to participate in, ranging from making social media content, to market research to collecting data. 😳 What surprised me the most about my experience was how much I enjoyed working in a corporate setting, the overall friendly office culture, and the process of creating a series from start to finish Zalva, Series Development Intern ✏️ ❤️ My favourite thing about the internship was the amazing series development team who had such a warm energy and were so supportive. (And also the free breakfast) 😳 I was surprised at how chill and friendly the work environment was! I was expecting a scary corporate office but I was so comfortable in office and loved coming in every week. Philip, Editorial Intern 📚 ❤️ I love the opportunity to meet people in the industry, everyone comes from diverse backgrounds. I feel very inspired by the stories they tell, especially with how they got into the business, and I learned a lot from working with them. 😳 I am honestly surprised by the working environment and how nice everybody is. Working in a corporation like BBC Studios sounds daunting at first, but I quickly found out how understanding and kind the staff are. I felt like a part of the team very soon, despite having been here for only a few weeks. Alilya, Production Intern 🎥 ❤️ My favourite part of the internship was meeting passionate people and hearing their inspiring stories about how they got to where they are, especially those who didn't start in this industry. I also loved seeing the immense care and creativity that goes into producing beautiful films. I am grateful to the team for teaching me their skills and being so supportive. 😳 Something that surprised me was the working environment; I expected it to be super strict and "corporate," but instead, I found a space filled with music and team work.
