West Texas Pumpjack Keighley Ilene No. 1 9 x 12 Oil on Linen Panel Plein Air 2-26-2024 This was the 7th and last Pumpjack painting of Paint the Oilfields Excursion 2024. I really wanted something simple to end this adventure, I drove around looking for a site that was easily accessible and this location fit my requirements. However, I just do not do simple. I spent more time on this than I anticipated. Using the pump jack as a model, I created a scene with a supporting backdrop of interest that was not entirely there; for a basis of a commission on which I am working. When I returned home, it quietly sang to me the comforting tune of a working pump jack, which it was. It was windy and in the 80's; another beautiful day to paint the Oilfields. Praise God. Over 40 years in gas compression and oil and gas facilities experience, approximately 250,000 total installed horsepower; managed successful projects which safely met schedule and budget expectations. Along the way I started to paint using oil. With my engineering background, I gravitated toward vehicles, industrial, architectural and oil and gas subject matter. And pumpjacks.
