The best housing solution for Australians is one that allows them to be part of vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive communities.
We need to prioritise housing that is safe, connected, and actively encourages socio-economic and community-based participation from residents. Living close to areas of work and play is essential to fostering thriving communities.
Meet Alice. At the age of 59, Alice is contemplating a second job to make ends meet. After her divorce, Alice could no longer afford to keep the home she raised her family in. As rental costs increase and appropriate housing supply diminishes, Alice has found herself temporarily living at the local caravan park. While her family live further away, the community Alice has fostered over the years is of most importance to her safety and vitality.
Alice’s story is not unique. She is one of the many who would benefit from a plan that puts people at the centre of the policy making process. A plan that recognises our towns and cities are at their best when communities are engaged.
At Urbis, our housing experts believe in building communities, as well as homes. We can help craft policies, city and precinct visions, strategies, and masterplans that help elevate our communities.
