Championing women artists, SLQS opened its doors last night with the exhibition "A Landscape of Chance." If you're in London this weekend, check it out. Follow the link for more info on the thought-provoking works in textile and sculpture that examine our connection to the natural world in the digital age. From questioning human individuality to creating new ecologies, the artists in this show offer a unique perspective on our place in the ecosystem. From the press release: "Through the mediums of textile and sculpture, the artists included in 'A Landscape of Chance' explore human’s connection and impact with botanical life and the broader natural world in the digital era. Human bodily materiality and individuality is questioned, new organisms and ecologies are created. Seeds entangled with synthetics expose humanity’s impact on the ecosystem and our interconnectedness with all beings. Speculative futures contemplate fluid boundaries between matter, life and technology. Vietnamese miniature landscapes reveal exoticisation and tourism nature appropriation. Past, present and future environments collide, distort and transform." SLQS, founded by Sarah Le Quang Sang, is on a mission to champion women artists and their invaluable contributions to the art world. Through a diverse program of exhibitions, online screenings, and knowledge-sharing events, SLQS aims to create a space where artists, collectors, institutions, and thinkers can unite to celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusivity. Founder Madeleine Kozma has been teaching the art of moving images and contemporary video in Gävle. ART - Kultur Gävleborg works to inform, make available, and spread contemporary art within and outside the Gävleborg Region. They took the opportunity to interview Artarounds founder Madeleine Kozma. Here are five simple questions: Photo: Magnus Swärd Madeleine Kozma is currently a guest tutor at the Art School in Gävle, where she leads a film course. She has a background as a video and mixed-media artist and is the founder of ArtAround, a platform that makes contemporary art more accessible in both private and public settings. 1. What inspires you right now? As a professional artist, the work is dynamic, and so is the inspiration. The students show me new perspectives and approaches that are incredibly inspiring. 2. What is the biggest challenge in your creation? When I started making films, I didn't have a clear focus. I filmed a lot without knowing what it was going to be about and got stuck in the editing room. 3. Which themes recur in your work? I mainly work with issues and topics related to women's rights & identity. My orientation is inspired by artists like #AnaMendieta, who highlighted how art can be used for social and political change. These themes also characterize my company, #ArtAroundSweden, which aims to make contemporary art accessible to more people in an easier way. 4. Your best art experience? "The Infinite Mix" in London 2016 - a collaborative exhibition with pioneering video artists. 5. Any advice for your younger self? Trust the process. If you are driven and curious, you will get where you want to go as long as you keep moving forward. #art #teambuilding #konstkulturgavleborg #gavlekonstcentrum #regiongavleborg #workshop #inspiration #b2b

Volume 11 is coming soon, here’s the editorial for this issue: "Everything changes, and we at NNC Gallery evolve over time, just like our projects. Our magazine is also undergoing a transformation. Starting with this issue, we will introduce new sections. The first will be a column dedicated to advice for artists: our experience and desire to provide concrete support have led us to create a space for this purpose. It will be a sort of coaching journey, aimed at teaching artists how to navigate the era of the web, mass art, and new collectors. What artists are looking for today, perhaps even before exhibitions, are collectors. For centuries, the art market was controlled by a small circle that decided who could be sold and who couldn't. Today, things have changed, but the selection process is still very rigorous. However, this is not the only issue. Moving away from traditional paths has led to the formation of prejudices, urban legends, and insecurities, which often cause talented artists to suffer from what is commonly known as 'imposter syndrome,' thereby sabotaging their own progress. For these reasons, we decided to focus on this aspect and offer our contribution. There are many other new developments in the pipeline, which we will unveil gradually in the upcoming issues. In this issue, we present some of the artists from the collectives we have been following for many years and continue to promote, helping them reach a wider audience. You will also find this month’s featured artist, the special guest, along with the winners of the January 2024 challenge, as well as the selected artists who accepted or declined our challenge. We hope you enjoy reading our magazine/catalog and that you can fully appreciate the contemporary art of these years!" Cover by Juan Javier Medina Pereira Collective 20 Winner Challenge 2020 To be featured in our magazine catalog, apply to the ongoing challenge: https://lnkd.in/det-mymM #ArtChallenge #ContemporaryArt #ArtistOpportunities #ArtMagazine #ArtCatalog #EmergingArtists #ArtFeature #CallForArtists #ArtCollectors #ArtistCommunity

ArtVista. For: Artists: Artists, Art Enthusiasts/Collectors, Art Galleries, and Museums. Dissatisfied with: Traditional art growth and promotional methods that often lack interactivity and inclusivity eg; ● Physical Exhibitions: Artists may find it challenging to reach a broader audience beyond those who can physically attend the exhibition. ● Art Shows and Fairs: Smaller or emerging artists may find it difficult to secure space or afford participation fees, limiting their exposure. ● Print Media Advertising: Traditional advertising in newspapers, magazines, and art journals lacks interactivity and engagement. ● Gallery Representation: While being represented by a gallery can provide credibility and exposure for artists, it often comes with high commissions and exclusivity agreements. This model may not be inclusive for artists who don't fit the gallery's aesthetic or commercial objectives. ● Auction Houses: The high entry barriers and competitive bidding processes may discourage emerging artists and smaller collectors from participating. ● Museum Exhibitions: Their exhibitions can sometimes feel distant and unengaging for the general public. Interactive elements are often limited, and there may be a lack of diversity in the artists and artworks featured. ● Artist Residencies: Access to prestigious residencies may be limited to artists with certain credentials or connections. Due to: Limited visibility, Community engagement, Art resources, and information, difficulty in reaching the target audience, and genuine connections That provides: ● Visibility and Exposure ● Community Building ● Monetization Opportunities ● Artistic Development ● Curation and Discovery ● Industry Insights ● Support for Art Entities Share your thoughts, ideas, and expectations for ArtVista via the links. 🎨 Navigating the Mosaic Landscape: Challenges for Today’s Artists In the age of digital art and rapid-fire social media, contemporary mosaic artists are facing unique challenges that test their creativity and resilience. Here are some key hurdles they encounter: 1. Material Accessibility: Quality materials can be hard to find, not to mention the rising costs. Artists often find themselves hunting for sustainable options that won’t break the bank. 2. Staying Relevant: As art trends evolve, there's pressure to innovate. How do mosaic artists stay ahead without losing their unique voice? 3. Balancing Tradition with Modernity: Incorporating ancient techniques while embracing contemporary themes is a delicate dance. Finding that balance can make or break a piece. 4. Audience Engagement: In a world full of distractions, capturing attention and building a community for your art requires strategic thinking and digital savvy. 5. Recognition and Market Value: The fine arts world still often overlooks mosaics as a respected medium. Cultivating appreciation and understanding of the craft is essential for recognition. This #WorldOceansDay, in support of ART 2030 and the United Nations, we share moments from the first PCAI Tilos Artist Residency programme with designers-in-residence The New Raw @the_new_raw , in Tilos, that call to action for our ocean. The film PCAI Tilos Artist Residency: The New Raw, directed by Ilias Madouros, unfolds PCAI’s artist-in-residence programme on the island of Tilos, the first zero-waste island. How can circular economy principles inspire creativity, collaboration and regenerative thinking in architecture, design crafts, materials and urban design? The docufilm aims to explore this question following The New Raw’s multifaceted art practices in Tilos during their three-month residency on the island. The ocean is our biggest ally in the fight against climate change. Without an ocean full of life, it cannot continue to sequester and store carbon. We have a degraded ocean on our hands, but the ocean has a phenomenal capacity to restore itself. *PCAI Tilos Artist Residency programme was launched in 2022, as part of the Just Go Zero Tilos project powered by Polygreen eco, implemented in collaboration with the Municipality of Tilos. Share the post and inspire others to take action for a healthy planet. https://lnkd.in/d8eHg8kG #ArtforaHealthyPlanet #ArtforGlobalGoals #tilosresidency #thenewraw #pcai
