I believe each of us working in nonprofit fundraising has one of two "fundraising worldviews:" 1. (Nonprofit Centric View) The donor is a tool we use to do great work. 2. (Donor Centric View) The donor sees the nonprofit as a tool for her to do great work. If you have a Nonprofit Centric View, you may find your fundraising falls flat. When you approach fundraising from a fundraising worldview that the donor is simply a tool to use to do work, you miss out on the dynamic that the donor wants to be the one who successfully accomplishes the work using your organization as the conduit.
