Did you know 33 million Brits receive unwanted Christmas presents each year and 1 in 10 of those end up in landfill? We think that sucks. So, this year, we will be donating on behalf of each of our clients to The People's Kitchen and matching that donation to make the gift of giving go that little bit further. The charity do amazing work, and if you're a North East based business, individual or just want to recognise the work they're doing we urge you to consider supporting their "Feed a Friend for a Fiver" campaign to provide a three course Christmas Dinner for a homeless or vulnerable person. They provide somewhere warm to come to on Christmas day, to get showered, have a cuppa and eat a proper Christmas dinner with other people so they are not alone. https://lnkd.in/eJvw6nJ2

Giving a child a book they can own can be a powerful investment in their future and their wellbeing. That’s why we’ve been working with the Children's Book Project to do just that. Using our business to do better, as a B Corp. So we put out the call to our shoppers to leave out any children’s books they’d like to donate and we’ve had a great response. On top of making our weekly deliveries, our incredible drivers have been collecting these donations, ready to bring back for our charity partner to sort and re-gift. We’ve estimated around 8,000 books have been donated and we can’t thank people enough for the kindness that this shows. From our generous shoppers and hard-working drivers to all the team at The Children’s Book Project. “Once again, the families that shop with Abel & Cole have amazed us by donating thousands of preloved children’s books to The Children’s Book Project. They are now on their way to new adventures with children, many of whom own few if any books of their own. Families can continue to donate books all year round at drop points or with free doorstep collections, by visiting https://lnkd.in/eCVDCxqv. Thank you for your support" Kristin Knell, Children’s Book Project. #Charity #Community #BCorp #Donation

The largest gift someone makes in their lifetime is usually only received posthumously: a gift left in their will. Long term giving is the single biggest predictor of whether your charity will be in someone's will. The secret to encouraging long term giving lies in communication. Don't be distracted be larger long term donations, either–focus on all levels of giving–gift size now is not a valid predictor of legacy giving. - Communicate often - Build relationships - Thank people thank people thank people! Become a lifesaver this #AirAmbulanceWeek by sharing this post. More than one in three people in our community don't know that we're a charity, fully funded by donations. 🚁 It costs £3,950 to send our helicopter on each lifesaving mission, and we're dispatched an average of nine times a day. That's why we need your help to spread the word and support our lifesaving work. By sharing this post today, you're already taking the first step to saving a life, tomorrow. #TodaysSupporterTomorrowsLifesaver.

🥳 We hear the term "niche" thrown about quite a lot and we seem to have carved out a very "niche-niche" with our online customers. The only thing I can connect it to is potentially lockdown. I celebrated my 40th in a hard lockdown and I think my story resonated. We have an enormous amount of January birthday customers and still to this day I can remember nearly all of their birthdays. Our family is almost all winter babies and someone in my family is born nearly every day in January (yes, I have a BIG family). As a result, we've always found Januarys are super busy for our online gifting side of the business. My take-aways are: 🎁 If you're born in January, you're generally not following the usual pattern that the rest of the world adheres to- Veganuary, Dry January and January diets. Being born at a time of the year when no one has any money (or the desire to leave the house) is punishment enough 🤣. 🎁 There's nothing in the shops, just end of lines and the scrag-ends of Christmas, so choosing a gift is even more challenging in January. 🎁 Lots of cafes, bakeries and restaurants are closed in January for "maintenance/ holiday time" so you can't even go out to your favourite spots to celebrate. With all of this in mind, we have really managed to turn these factors into a strength for our business and are always ready with our doors wide open come the first week of January. Regardless of the external factors, people still want to feel good and have a treat for their birthday. 🤭 Hilariously, after posting the video (attached) on Instagram, someone commented to say it was her birthday: she'd received 3 scarves and would have loved some brownies instead. This made me chuckle. I have to say that my family has a collection of scarves and hats that would make John Lewis jealous. I'm interested to hear if you've carved out any "niche-niches" for yourselves? Can you beat having a HUGE amount of January babies as customers? #supportsmallbusiness
🎉 Bringing some sunshine to January Birthdays 🎊 All birthday brownies purchased for delivery in January will automatically be upgraded to a Birthday Party in a Box. PLUS we'll also donate 50p per box to Suffolk Mind Charity. What's not to love? To qualify, please enter the word BIRTHDAY in the order notes (when purchasing any brownie box) and we'll take care of the rest! #supportsmallbusiness #supportsuffolkmind

In our company, employees open their hearts wide for good deeds ❤️🩹 One way to help is through donations. ⚡️ Our company has a donation system, and contributions can be made in the following ways: 1. Opting out of birthday gifts. In this case, the entire amount will be donated to charity. 2. Opting out of quarterly team-building activities. This money can also be sent to those in need! 3. Donating your corporate points, which the company converts into real money and sends to charity. By the way, each employee or department can choose whom they want to direct their donation to. For example, in 2024, the record recipients were animal shelters, and we also help children and elderly people. It’s especially gratifying that in 2024, the total amount of donations nearly doubled! We are proud of this trend and continue to stand by those who need it most 💚 #betera #team #csr #donation #gooddeeds

Did you know that living in a clutter-free home can be good for your finances?! Here's how: 1) One of the main benefits of decluttering our homes is that we have a place for everything and we can find our stuff. As a result, we're able to use up what we have and save money by not buying duplicates. 2) Until you’ve decluttered you don’t know what storage solutions you may need. And once you have decluttered you might find you can repurpose something which you already own. 3) Finding lost items can bring great joy and peace of mind, and save you money. If you're planning to go on a decluttering spree, consider donating your unwanted clothing and items to one of our partnered charities.
