We all know that the world around us is changing at an astonishing pace. Whether through the rise of new technologies, the shifting demands of global business, or the increasing importance of lifelong learning, education is at a crossroads. It feels like we are standing on the edge of a new era—one that will redefine how we prepare learners for the future of work. But it's also clear that this is not something any of us can tackle alone. I believe that for our education to truly progress, it requires more than just internal changes within our own institutions. We must build bridges across industries, sectors, and nations, creating an ecosystem that is adaptable, innovative, and future-ready. At INTI International University, this very idea drove us to initiate this conference a few years ago. We wanted to create a platform where senior leaders from higher education—both here at home and from across the globe—could come together to exchange insights, share experiences, and, most importantly, learn from one another. As a young and emerging university, INTI recognizes that our growth cannot happen in isolation. We need to collaborate and be open to learning from the best practices of others. Over the years, I've had the privilege of watching this conference grow into more than just a professional gathering. It has become a space where lasting personal connections are made, where we not only discuss the challenges and triumphs of higher education but also support one another through our shared experiences. At the 3rd International Higher Education Conference on October 24, 2024, we were thrilled to welcome an exceptional group of thought leaders, researchers, and change-makers from around the world. They shared their insights and experiences, enriching the dialogue on higher education.

International collaboration can support and accelerate the development of higher education in many ways. For example, joint degrees, quality assurance frameworks, international research and learning ecosystems are all shaping the way education is done today and in the future. Today Anna-Maria Vilkuna from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and other paneelist shared inshights about the ways in which international collaboration has shaped research and educational development in their institutions. After my 30 years in international HiEd business the key values of international higher education conferences include the following: 1. Global Perspectives. Fostering discussions on global challenges and trends in higher education, such as internationalization, student mobility, and digitalization. 2. Professional Development. Offering sessions, workshops, and presentations that contribute to the professional development of attendees, including discussions on teaching methodologies, assessment strategies, and academic leadership. 3. Knowledge Exchange. Facilitating the exchange of ideas, research findings, and best practices among scholars, educators, and administrators from around the world. 4. Networking. Providing opportunities for professionals to network, build collaborations, and establish partnerships with colleagues from different institutions and countries. 5. Cultural Exchange. Promoting cultural understanding and appreciation by bringing together individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. 6. Innovation. Showcasing innovative practices, technologies, and research methodologies that enhance teaching, learning, and institutional effectiveness. 7. Advocacy. Advocating for policies and practices that support equitable access to quality higher education, both locally and globally. 8. Collaboration. Encouraging collaboration among institutions, governments, and organizations to address common issues and advance the collective goals of higher education. Thanks a lot to each and everyone we’ve met during APAIE | Asia-Pacific Association for International Education 2024. ✨ #MeetUsMonday: Meet the GCSC Team! ✨ Get to know the people behind the work happening at our Centre! Every Monday, we introduce you to one of our dedicated team members, sharing their academic and professional journeys that led them to the GCSC. This week, meet Lena Nuechter, our Graduate Studies and Member Support advisor, Combining Career and Family programme coordinator , and the link between doctoral students and Executive Board. 🏫 “Hi, I’m Lena! My role in “#GraduateStudies & #MemberSupport” is a touchpoint for many questions across the #PhDcycle. From individual #ConsultingMeetings or organising events to developing greener research #TravelGuidelines, my daily work is incredibly #diverse – and I get to know almost everyone and see them grow during their time at the #GCSC. 🔍 🎓 One of my favourite times of the year is early summer, when the new #cohort of #DoctoralStudents receive their offer letters. This brings many #FreshFaces with questions about navigating #BureaucraticChallenges in Germany, organising #IntercontinentalMoves, or finding #funding, which remains a significant obstacle especially for #InternationalResearchers due to #LanguageRequirements. 📑 💼 Therefore, I’m especially thrilled that one of my projects from last year has recently borne fruit: the GCSC at Justus Liebig University Giessen secured funding to support up to four international PhD students for the 2025 and 2026 cohorts through the DAAD German Academic Exchange Service’s "Graduate School Scholarship Programme" (#GSSP). This is our second time receiving this funding, which both reflects and supports our #commitment to fostering #InternationalResearch and #collaboration. 🤝 💡It’s a great joy and privilege to connect with researchers from all around the world every day. Supporting their #AcademicJourneys and striving to continuously improve #ResearchConditions is what motivates my work.✨ 🔗 For more information regarding the GSSP programme, check 👉: https://lnkd.in/dm7NcT8d #MeetUs #MeetTheTeam #MeetOurFellows #TeamGCSC #CareerAndFamily #AcademicExcellence #InspiringWork #Research #GCSC #LiteraryStudies #CulturalStudies #GreenTraveling #GreenResearch #Scholarships #InternationalStudents #PhDlife #JustusLiebigUniversity #JLU
