Today (27 January) commemorates the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Entire families and communities were decimated during the Holocaust, and in numerous instances, the identities of the victims remain unknown. On this Holocaust Memorial Day, we are presented with an opportunity to actively contribute to a more promising future. By educating ourselves about the Holocaust and more recent genocides, we can strive for a better future. Although racism and hatred do not invariably culminate in genocide, we can endeavour to create a world where individuals do not endure prejudice or persecution based on their faith, ethnicity, or other characteristics. EXCLUSIVE | A bipartisan group of more than 60 House lawmakers is set to reintroduce the HEAL Act, a bipartisan bill examining Holocaust education efforts across the country. The legislation requires the director of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum to conduct an audit of Holocaust education programs nationwide, including in which states Holocaust education is required, the curricula and standards used and other information, and report to Congress on the results. According to a press release from the bill’s sponsors, 29 states currently require Holocaust education, while 21 do not have comprehensive or mandatory Holocaust education, even at a time of increasing antisemitism and when studies have shown that knowledge of the Holocaust is fading, particularly among younger generations. https://ji.news/4hxkkUx

Check out this important effort!
It is a promise asked of Holocaust survivors everywhere - that the world will never forget. It is the job of our generation to make good on that promise. In 2010, there were 127,300 Holocaust survivors alive in the U.S. Today, there are roughly 44,000 alive in the U.S. As the grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, we are the last generation that will ever be able to speak about what it was like to hear the stories of our grandparents over decades of our lives. The last generation to see their physical and emotional scars. The last generation that will ever bear witness to their incredible resilience. This #GivingTuesday, help us live up to the promise to #HolocaustSurvivors everywhere that the world will not forget what happened to them and their families. Together, we will ensure future generations never forget about the Holocaust, so that it never happens again. https://lnkd.in/g-Azp_cP

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, a day that commemorates the Holocaust, which was a genocide of six million Jews and one of the most horrific attack on humankind. The last 478 days has been the most difficult period in my life to be Jewish. In the United States, there was a 288% increase in antisemitic incidents, peaking in April 2024, according to The Times of Israel (https://lnkd.in/e3SP4TfG). The Anti-Defamation League and Ipsos found that nearly half of all people worldwide (46%) hold elevated levels of antisemitic attitudes (https://lnkd.in/eCNruWrQ). The survey also found that 20% of respondents worldwide have not heard about the Holocaust, and 48% recognize the Holocaust’s historical accuracy (39% among 18-34-year-olds). Read more about this in CNN here: https://lnkd.in/eRuUDjrt. Growing up I spent time listening to the stories of multiple Holocaust survivors. Today is more important than ever to elevate and share their stories, and show your Jewish pride. We are a resilient, strong group of people. #HolocaustRemembranceDay #InternationalHolocaustRemembranceDay

SMEs, listen to this wise holocause survivor. What does he say have to do with business? Everything. 1. The path of least resistance will lead you to medicority and eventual regret. 2. Following the herd may be comforting but its not fulfilling especially when it's at the expense of others. 3. The powerful stakeholders above forcing unfair terms on SMEs that do not have the lobbying nor financial power will not change until you make a concerted effort to speak out and demand it in collaboration with other like minded advocates. You can make a diffence. Yes you! 4. Most importantly, your "perceived" enemy may be your natural ally. Don't judge them by their outwardly looks. Talk to them and find ways to collaborate in reimaginig the industry as a value creator for all stakeholders - not just shareholders.
“As a Holocaust survivor, my message to the brave student protesters in America is just keep doing it. Don't give up. We are doing exactly the same, and in the long term we are going to prevail. I'm out from the beginning. At every March, a small group of survivors and descendants of survivors demonstrate disagreement with with the use of the Holocaust experience. The way that the Israeli government is using the memory of the Holocaust in order to justify what they're doing to the Gazans is a complete insult to the memory of the Holocaust. we also demonstrate against the conflating of Jewishness with Zionism, which is what the Israeli state is trying to do, which does nothing else but increases anti-Semitism. So we are trying to counter that by demonstrating that Jews and Holocaust survivors are against that. “ https://lnkd.in/dVc8VhDN See also this large group of American Jews protesting along peaceful students across American universities: https://lnkd.in/djMRvQMz As a side note, colonization of Palestine by the European Zionist movement was planned and executed decades before the Holocaust. https://lnkd.in/dvssTK5d Netanyahu father moved to Palestine (how it was called back then) in 1920, before the Holocaust. https://lnkd.in/dzyvcacp

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, when we remember those murdered in the Holocaust and honor the survivors. To commemorate the Holocaust and its victims, we must continue to stand up and speak out against antisemitism today to ensure that 'Never Again' means something. After all, this isn't distant history—it's only been 80 years. From the Anti-Defamation League: Nearly half of all people worldwide hold elevated levels of antisemitic attitudes, according to the latest Global 100 survey conducted by ADL and coordinated with Ipsos and other research partners. The survey found that 46% of the world’s adult population – an estimated 2.2 billion people – harbor deeply entrenched antisemitic attitudes, more than double compared to ADL’s first worldwide survey a decade ago and the highest level on record since ADL started tracking these trends globally. In the face of darkness, be the light.

As Holocaust Memorial Day approaches, we are invited to reflect on this year’s theme: “For a Better Future.” It’s a powerful reminder that the lessons of the past must inspire us to build a world rooted in compassion, understanding, and inclusion. At Spaceship Earth, we are contributing to this effort through Project Empathy by restoring and colourising historical Holocaust footage and ensuring the stories of victims and survivors continue to educate future generations. This year, I encourage everyone to take two minutes of reflective silence to think about the kind of better future we want to create. How can we, in our everyday lives, contribute to a world free of hatred and prejudice? 💬 What are your plans to mark Holocaust Memorial Day? Are you attending events, sharing stories, or creating your own moments of remembrance? Let’s share our thoughts and inspire one another to honour the memory of those who suffered, while working together for a better future.
