““The HARDER you WORK, the LUCKIER You Get.””
“This means that if you put in the effort, you're more likely to have things go your way.
Not that luck isn't important, but hard work usually gets you to the point where luck can even come into play.”
-
“It turns out that luck plays a surprisingly big role in success. Some of the most successful people in the world are where they are because they’ve been lucky enough to have the right opportunities come their way. Of course, that’s not to say that hard work isn’t important.
The fact is, the harder you work, the luckier you’re likely to get.”

In the spirit of the Olympics, let's discuss Steven Bradbury OAM from the 2002 Winter Olympics.
In the final turn, of the final lap, one of the other skaters faulted, slipped and took out the remaining three skaters, leaving Bradbury to come through for the win. It was a quintessential tale which was both inspiring and aligned with Australian humour.
The name became synonymous with resilience, tenacity and a bit of luck.
What the story rarely acknowledges is the amount of damned effort it takes to get into the final race, for a gold medal, in a sport that your country is not commonly known for.
How many tens of thousands of hours of training did it take to get in that race in the first place?...
To my mind it proves that we make our own luck.
It wasn't luck that got him in that race in the first place.

Billiards? An Olympic Sport?
Well, the overall image of billiards back in the 70's, 80's and 90's was not ideal, specially as a sport. It was considered mostly a hobby, a pastime activity, and entertainment.
Nowadays, things have changed a lot.
Thanks to those individuals, federations and companies who see it as a sport and do everything they can to push it forward, towards its inclusion to the Olympics of Brisbane 2032.
Billiards have come a long way.
Today, Billiards is a sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee – IOC, it is a member of ARISF, it works closely with World Anti-Doping Agency and it is included in The World Games 2025 in Chengdu.
The WCBS - World Confederation of Billiards Sports, is spearheading the efforts by presenting the values of Billiards to the Australian Olympic Committee and Brisbane 2032.
What do you all think?
Should it remain a sport or is worth it becoming an Olympic Sport?

Absolutely thrilled to see over 150 young people engaging in competitive sports! 🚀
Growing up and playing competitive sports at school was something that I looked forward to. It’s an opportunity every young person should have. 🏏
The benefits of playing competitive sport, that I found:
- Improves resilience: A crucial skill, especially in today’s challenging times.
- Boosts confidence: Helping you believe in your ability, and experiencing failure and growing developing problem solving skills.
- Enhances social skills: Building friendships and teamwork.
- Encourages stepping out of comfort zones: Fostering growth and adaptability.
This is something we are hoping to grow going to into the 2024-25 school year 🥇.
