Lately, I have been seeing a lot of brands going out of business and/or good people being laid off. These are the very unfortunate byproducts of a rocky market that still hasn't leveled out. Hopefully, things start to turn!!! On a positive note, Sircle Media is hiring and looking for some great people with CPG Brand-side experience. We want hustlers that get what we do and can hit the ground running. Seeing Influencer or Social Media roles that require 10+ years of experience is insane 😂 1) Lower your expectations if you're hiring for an influencer manager role. That wasn't a job a year ago. While someone may be well-versed in engaging with influencers, no one has 10 years of experience doing so. 2) I got my first job in social media in 2011 and was the Chairwoman of the Board for the National Institute for Social Media for several years, and I still don't know everything there is about social media marketing. No one does. It changes too quickly. Your next social hire should have grit and personality, both of which are far more valuable than algorithm knowledge. We need a mix of macros with national reach (over 250K AVVs on the last 3 months of posts), niche/community midtier (50K-100K AVVs). Rate for macros in the $10-$12K ballpark with flex for the right person; midtier in the 3-5K. Amber Kai couldn't agree more with your statement. We are in a different world, digital-wise, than we were even 2 years ago with social media and influencers. Adding some additional thoughts, I think that not only will this be necessary to have brands separate these daily role functions, but also break out community and engagement of the brand into its unique role as well.
