🚴♂️🌍 Breaking Down Barriers: Cambio's Pledge for Global Cycling Talent 🌍🚴♀️ Ever wonder why the global cycling scene lacks geographical diversity? 🤔 We dug deep into the stats, and the numbers don't lie. European riders dominate the rosters of WorldTour development teams, leaving little room for talent from other corners of the globe. 🌏 But here's where the winds of change start blowing! At Cambio, we're on a mission to give opportunities to all riders in the world, no matter where they come from and who they are 🌱 Our commitment? Using cutting-edge technology so that professional teams could scout and short-list riders from all over the world, breaking down barriers that have long kept non-European talents on the sidelines (and some European riders as well)💪 Here's a snapshot of what we found when we dove into the data from WorldTour development teams: 🌟 Diverse Representation: Among 158 riders analyzed, only 32% of them hail from outside Europe. That's a staggering imbalance! But we're flipping the script, putting the spotlight on talent from every continent. 🌎 🚴♂️ Unveiling the Untapped: Among the 11 Continental/Development teams that we analyzed, only 1 rider is from South America, 1 from Africa and 8 from Oceania. It's a missed opportunity for other talents living in countries where scouts and pro teams don't have networks or don't explore yet. 💫 🌐 From Local Focus to Global Ambition: Most development teams are mainly focused on their domestic territory. For instance, 72% of riders in Belgian devo teams are from Belgium or the Netherlands. 11% of riders in French devo teams are from a non-European country (3 from Australia, 1 from New Zealand) 🚴♀️ So, what's next? Professional teams and devo teams will join Cambio in the coming weeks and leverage our tech-driven solutions to discover new opportunities with riders traditionally outside of their radar, including from European countries🌟 Join us NOW as we rewrite the script of global cycling! This month, let’s go on foot or by bike! 🚶♂️🚴♀️ Did you know that in 2021, Slovenians cycled over 216 million kilometers – which is 40% more than in 2017? 🚴♂️🌿 Cycling is not only a great way to stay active but also an opportunity to contribute to a cleaner environment. In the Municipality of Postojna, we’ve made it even easier with our POSbikes system, offering simple bike rentals. Instead of driving across town, hop on a bike! It’s a great way to reduce traffic and improve your health at the same time. 🌍♻️🚲💚 Additionally, by participating in the ArtMED project, the Municipality is working on solutions for on-demand mobility, especially for those living in the surrounding areas of Postojna. I may say #Denmark is my second home. I facilitate valuable connections for Danish and Dutch #associations, #clubs, #companies and #municipalities since 2016 (also Belgian). Happy people - we are amongst the happiest people in the world 8. We live in a period in which society must increasingly adapt to the needs of our planet and we are all called to make our contribution. This topic has been discussed in the European Commission since the 1990s. The transition from mobility based on private motor vehicles to increasingly sustainable mobility meant that in 1990 the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) launched the EuroVelo project.  EuroVelo is the European network of long-distance cycle routes that cross and connect the whole continent. The development of EuroVelo will lead to safe, direct, coherent and connected cycling infrastructure and cycle route networks that will benefit all categories of cyclists. Its flagship projects acts in 3 different fields by: - Encouraging the development of cycling tourism by sharing knowledge, expertise and know-how, with the annual EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference. - Advocating for sustainable tourism in European and national policies and practice. - Promoting all forms of cycling tourism through its communications channels. EuroVelo consists of over 90,000 km of cycling routes, of which well over 45,000 km are using developed cycle paths and low-traffic roads. EuroVelo signings can be found all across Europe. The 2024 Paris Olympics are less than three months away; and if there's something that gets me more excited than nations competing in sport at the highest level, it's optimizing the movements of millions of people in our cities. Citymapper is working with Paris's transport agency, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) to manage travel flow during the 2024 Olympic Games this summer! There's been a lot of discussion around how the City's public transport system will cope with the 15 million+ expected visitors.
