Something I have been trying out is the idea of Activation and Think Tank Days for my clients (and small business clients especially). I found that despite many businesses wanting to do marketing, know they need to do marketing they simply don't have the appetite to take on a larger project. Because it means time! Time away from their business. They are action-takers and want to get things done now! And I get it. I'm a bit like that too. P So... after running one of the first activation days with Eliana this month, I was stoked to get this feedback. With Eliana Dona we had a deep dive session to understand her audience, and where she needed content to go -and then I went to work. Waiting a day to send her my copy so it could percolate a little and I'd edit again with fresh eyes. And she loved it! And I loved it! So much energy, outcome-driven days. How to Expertly Burn Out Your Marketing Team in 10 Easy Steps (Without Even Trying!) Step 1: Vision? Strategy? Nah, let's wing it! Forget long-term planning. Spontaneity is the spice of life (and the nemesis of your marketing team). Step 2: Chase every trend. If it’s trending on TikTok at 2 AM, it better be in your campaign by 9 AM. Consistency is so last season. Step 3: Love your revisions. Encourage the team to give their all on the first draft, then change your mind. Often. About everything. Step 4: Embrace chaos as your brand voice. Keep them guessing. Is it professional today or quirky tomorrow? Surprise! Step 5: Deadlines are flexible, but also not. Due yesterday? Perfect. But also, let’s hold off on finishing until we’re sure, and then rush it! Step 6: Meetings about meetings. And make sure nothing gets decided in any of them. Step 7: Feedback loops from the abyss. More opinions equal more fun, right? Bring everyone in to give feedback, especially if they haven’t been involved from the start. Step 8: Obsess over metrics without context. Views, likes, engagement—buzzwords are your new best friends. Who cares about ROI? Step 9: Prioritize quantity over quality. Why settle for one perfect campaign when you can have 30 mediocre ones? Step 10: Never celebrate wins, only focus on what could’ve been better. Keep the morale just low enough to sustain a baseline level of existential dread. And there you have it! Follow these steps to ensure your marketing team is thoroughly frazzled, fried, and fantastically frenzied. I've been feeling overwhelmed recently to keep up with the demands of digital marketing. As a business owner, I’ve felt the pressure to maintain a consistent posting schedule, deliver on-brand messaging, and somehow keep up with the ever-changing landscape of social media. It’s not easy—especially when you’re juggling a million other responsibilities. I quite often question whether I'm doing it right, whether the time and effort I pour into marketing really make any difference. Sometimes I sit down to write a post and wonder if it truly reflects my brand’s values, if it will resonate with the people I want to reach. And sometimes, it's just plain frustrating to stay consistent when the rest of the business needs my attention. But through all of that, I realized something important: It’s okay to feel challenged by this process. Marketing isn’t just another task to check off the list—it’s an extension of who we are and what we believe in. And that means it’s worth taking the time to get it right. What’s helped me most is focusing on alignment—making sure that every piece of content, every message, reflects the values that are at the core of my business. When I started doing that, I found that consistency became easier, the overwhelm lessened, and the entire process felt more meaningful. I still face challenges, but I’ve learned that growth isn’t just about pushing through; it’s about staying true to your vision and trusting the process, even when it feels daunting. If you’re going through something similar, know that you’re not alone. It’s all part of the journey, and every step forward is progress, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
