#KTL Power demonstrates a swift response to Storm Ashley. #KTL Power supported our client ESB Networks (ESBN) with restoring power to the affected areas following Storm Ashley on Sunday 20th October. Restoring power to ESBNs customers was a collaborative effort involving ESBN, KTL management and construction teams, all working together to ensure electricity was safely restored to customers in the affected areas. Storm Ashley, the first named storm of the autumn-winter season swept across Ireland last Sunday bringing rough weather conditions, including strong winds and heavy rainfall. The storm brought wind speeds of up to 120 km/h in some areas particular in western counties. Authorities issued weather warnings, advising residents to avoid travel where possible and take precautions due to potential hazards, such as fallen trees and power lines. Although Storm Ashley subsided later in the day, it left behind a trail of damage. Brendan Brophy highlights the challenges and achievements of the project: "The main objective was to safely restore power to affected areas as quickly as possible. Our teams faced the task of working in a forested area where numerous trees had been felled by the storm. Despite the challenges, KTL successfully completed the repairs in just one day, demonstrating our commitment to safety, efficiency and reliability." Bernard Downey commented, "We were tasked with repairing a section of the overhead line network to restore power to our clients’ customers in an area that had been severely damaged by the storm. Alongside our client ESB Networks, our teams worked tirelessly to safely remove fallen trees, erect new poles, and restore the power supply swiftly. “KTL Power's ability to respond effectively to such storm damage reinforces our position as a trusted partner in the power industry. This project is a testament to our dedicated teams delivering a safe, efficient, and quality service.” #KTL, #KTLPower, #ConnectingCommunities, #StormAshley #PowerRestoration #ESBNetworks

⚠️RESTORATION UPDATE⚠️ 🕘 9AM -- Monday, Jan. 6 The impacts of this winter storm continue to be far-reaching and have affected all of the state’s utilities and their customers. While numbers will continue to fluctuate as more damage is discovered and reported, more than 46,000 LG&E and KU customers have been impacted since 6 a.m. Sunday. More than 400 downed wires have been reported across our system. The weight of ice accumulation on trees and tree limbs, combined with expected wind gusts of up to 35 mph, will create additional outages, downed wires and safety hazards across our service area. More than 1,000 restoration personnel (including line techs, safety specialists, damage assessors and off-system resources) are safely working across our service area to protect the public, respond to emergency situations, assess and repair damaged equipment, and for affected customers, restore their service safely and as quickly as possible. As we assess damages, we are establishing area-wide, or “global,” estimated restoration times when we expect to have power restored for the majority of customers in an area. We’ll continue updating restoration times based on crews’ feedback in the field and the level of damage we’re finding at customers’ properties. We appreciate your patience and encourage customers to continue checking our online outage map for the latest updates. Safety is our top priority and we urge the public to stay away from downed wires – and to always assume they could be energized and report them to us immediately. Visit lge-ku.com/blair for more important safety information and storm updates.

BE PREPARED: Flood Safety Tips for Businesses While Spring weather may be unpredictable, businesses can minimize flood risks by being prepared for a number of situations. Consider implementing these precautionary measures to help prepare your business in the event of a flood. Assess Your Flood Risk *Learn the Base Flood Elevation (BFE) for your property. *Determine the lead time required to implement your flood plan. *Identify the authorities responsible for monitoring water levels or rain intensity. *Learn the various flood warnings. Minimize Your Flood Risk 1. Complete an outside rain watch Grab an umbrella and watch heavy rainfall on the building to see how the water drains away from the building. Look out for areas where water builds up so you can plan ahead and mitigate possible damage. 2. Complete a walk around Walk around the building to inspect gutters, spillways, and storm sewers to make sure they are connected and clear of debris. Secure outdoor property that could be impacted by strong winds. 3. Inspect the roof Make sure all drains and scuppers are clear of debris. Look for debris buildup, such as leaves or sticks, that could clog drainage points in a rainstorm. Check that there are no loose items on the roof that could become airborne in heavy wind. 4. Check those portable pumps Are they operational and ready for use if needed? 5. Purchase flood-fighting supplies If located in a flood-prone area, sandbags or other flood-water control barriers should be accessible. Any questions message me. *Emergency Preparedness Checklist Attached #Businesses #BusinessInsurance #Utica #Floodsafety #Floodsafetytips #Spring #Flood

Storm Eowyn arrives on Friday. It will pack a punch with over 70MPH winds. Keep an eye on the warnings on the Met Office app and web and flood warnings on the Environment Agency flood pages. There are three warning areas, but they represent different impact risks currently ranging from medium to high. It’s likely warnings will escalate to at least Amber ahead of this event. Some model runs suggest this could be a bigger Storm then Darragh. Rain warnings also expected to be issued in next 24 hours. However keep an eye on our Comms as this storm has not even developed yet and won’t until 36 hours out. Incredible that modern day weather models can give such advanced warning for something that is not even a physical thing yet! This level of capability is why the Met Office returns £19 in economic value for every £1 invested in it.
