WHAT IS SALES ENGINEERING? WELL, IN SIMPLE TERMS; SALES ENGINEERING ENTAILS PITCHING COMPLEX PRODUCTS TO THE TARGET AUDIENCE, BY EXPLAINING THE PRODUCTS' TECHNICAL ENGINEERING BUILDING BLOCKS AND THE COMPETETIVE ADVANTAGE THESE PRODUCTS HAVE OVER OTHER PRODUCTS IN THE MARKET AS FAR AS PERFOMANCE IS CONCERNED. EXAMPLE;IF HONDA WANTS TO SELL THEIR NEW ENGINE TO A CAR MANUFACTURER, THEY GET AN INTERESTED FELLOW (WHO IS AN ENGINEER WITH SUFFICIENT BACKGROUND IN THE TECHNICAL SKILLS) AND TRAINS HIM TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING THAT WENT INTO MAKING THIS SPECIFIC ENGINE TYPE, ITS ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES AND EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW. THIS PERSON BECOMES THEIR SALES ENGINEER WHO THEN MRKETS THIS PRODUCT TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS, WOOING THEM TO BUY THE ENGINE. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SALES ENGINEER AND A SALESPERSON? IN THE CONTEXT OF THE ABOVE EXAMPLE: A SALESPERSON SELLS THE CAR WHILE A SALES ENGINEER SELLS THE ENGINE/TRANSMMISSION SYSTEM. ANYONE IN THE FIELD WITH MORE INSIGHTS?
