🏙️ Draw Like an Architect: Bringing Buildings to Life with People 👥 Step into the captivating world of architectural design, where buildings come alive with the stories of people and their interactions within the spaces they inhabit. Join us as our esteemed Design Consultant, Sam, unravels the art of incorporating human figures into architectural sketches, transforming them into compelling narratives of form and function. Let’s take a look at the proportions in the sketch. We divide the human body into halves. The top half is divided into thirds, the bottom half is then divided into another half. We can start simply outlining the human figure with basic shapes, getting a bit more detailed each time and move onto more free hand sketching with loose curves and dynamic lines. Why Include People? 1. Scale the Possibilities: Human figures give your drawings a sense of scale, bringing the building to life in the viewer's mind. 2. Function Meets Narrative: People are key to storytelling in architectural sketches, adding functionality and purpose and showing how a space will work 3. It’s fun: Sketching is a fundamental tool of any Designer, infuse your drawings with creativity, flair, and belief in the building and its use. How to Master the Art? 1. Scale Principles: Master the proportions to develop your unique style and character. 2. Wild Curves and Zany Lines: Embrace whimsy and highlight the organic nature of figures against the building's rigid forms. 3. Embrace Imperfections: Mistakes add authenticity and charm to your drawings. Be loose and quirky! Happy sketching! Sam King #architecturedesign #drawing #perspective #sketching #planning #rural
